Rage makes some really good products for glassing, look them up for your resin/short/long stand, as well as filler... Biggest thing you want to remember is to use very light layers built up on top of each other, as if you go too heavy you can develop air pockets, which can destroy the integruity of the fiberglass. Fleece works really well for your initial shaping. hope that helps

I agree, if you are sanding to wrap or use a textured paint then there is not much to it. If you are going for show finish then you will have some time in sanding.

i dont wanna cut my doors or anything. if i would i would put it in the pillar or make a pod that will just sit on my dash

The techniques in the glassing are pretty much the same, though the scale that you are looking for is smaller than the examples above...

but i want the tweeters up above but the pillars. so i was thinking bout just making and enclosure for them then either velcrowing or attaching them some way.

Advice????

1. buy LOTS of disposable brushes.

2. apply in different directions.

3. the more layers the stronger.

brushes?? like paint brushes? and what size work best? i want a fiberglass enclosure that i can paint and will look okay. won't be a super fancy shape. prbly a flat back and bottom then a slanted/ rounded front where the tweeter will be so it will point in-between my seats.

and if I'm just making an 2 enclosures for the tweeters and 2 for some 6.5 enclosures how much mesh and resin should i get?

The smaller the piece, the smaller the brushes. For tweeter pods, maybe 3/4" brushes or something like that. Get like 10 brushes. Get the cheapest bristle brushes you can find. You can't use foam brushes with resin, FYI. It will melt the foam.

Just basic paint brushes.... like 50 to 99 cents each...

1/2 inch brushes for small **** and 2 inch brushes for big projects....

Are you trying to do something like this?

Why would you need absurd strength for a tweeter pod?

you can use a tshirt material , stretch over the wood piece that you have, soak it in, do a single layer of mat and be done with it.
