how do i go about rounding the corners of my ported sub box with fiberglass?

all i have gathered is that i need 2" pvc pipe and resin, and i dont really even know how the resin works, so how do i do it? i want the inside of my box to be as optimum as possible, and i want to resin the whole inside of my box, you know, the works.

how do i do it?

there has to be a tutorial somewhere.....

can i just use painters tape as a cloth?
kinda of a stupid question. kuz is tape cloth??? just use and old tshirt. but i would suggest using kitty hair and just build it up in the corner and then take a piece of pipe with sand paper on it and sand it out that way.

that makes sense, but kitty hair? do you really mean cat hair? because i think i would rather use actual fiberglass

can i just put the tape over the glued in pvc, and then put resin and fiberglass over it?

just cut some scrap wood w/ a 45 degree angle on each side..

you can also use something like posterboard and just staple it down..then hit it with some mat and resin..

pvc and glass is a waste of time and materials imo..i used some halved 4" thin wall pvc on the inside of my wall and it was a pain in the ass..wasnt even happy with how it came out in the end.

2" pvc cut in half for two c shapes. You can do two corners at a time. Spray the outside of the pvc with some pam. put the pvc in the corner tight to the bottom of the enclosure. Tape it in place good and firm so it won't move. Mix up some resin and talc or mdf dust. Or you can use the milkshake of resin and bondo. Then pour it in behind your pvc. Wait for your mix to harden, and pull the pvc out. Viola perfectly smooth rounded corners everytime //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

i just got done reading an article online, can find the link again, but anyways it stated that its not nesesary to put angles to reflect the audio wave that is being created by the sub since the frequency lenght that the subwoofers creates are so long that the angles are not needed. they are used if youre runing above 200hz wich youre not on a sub.

this was an article about horn loaded enclosures, where alot of builders tend to round the iner corners to ease the flow of air. well its not realy nesesary.

edit: i dont know how true all that is but here is the link anyways.

so is it worth the extra time and money? how much of a difference will rounded corners make, and is there a way to do it the way ramos said after the box is finished?

Unless your chasing tenths on a mic. No it's not worth it.

Not if it's completely finished. You need a complete enclosure minus the top to do it that way. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

wow, thats going in my sig.

But unless you going for every last possible db out of your box, then it won't be anything you notice.

Now if you want to make the inside of the box super sexy, then go for it.

While rounding the cormers may be viewed as not necessary from a wavelength point of view, the aerodynamic effect can be signifigant in certain circunstances.

The benifit of large flares on ports is well known, why should this suddenly change in regard to the interior of the enclosure?

A sphere with a hole in it creates the most "pure" or highest "Q" resonance, the more you deviate from that shape the lower the Q of the resonance becomes.

[edit] Higher Q = more output

Didn't say it wasn't beneficial. Just said that if your building a street beater, I highly doubt you will be able to here any audible difference between rounded interior corners and regular old 45's that I always use. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Kitty Hair ----- http://www.coastalmarineonline.com/coastal/product.asp?dept_id=145205&pf_id=FIB100868&ad_id=froogle&key_id=FIBERGLASSEVERCOATKITTYHAIRRESINFILLER

Awwww, heres a link to Evercoats site......

http://www.evercoat.com/productCategory.aspx
