Four 15" Fi Q's ran off of 2 Hifonics XX Hercs. ported at 28-32Hz in a 16-20ft^3 slot port box or...

Two Fi BTL's with all options (for Headroom later on) and two Hifonics XX Hercs. in a 8-10ft^3 box tuned to 28-32Hz....or whatever size would be best...?

Looking for something that is going to dominate in the 28-45Hz range....

Well That's my problem......I want the major SPL on music but I need decent SQ too (if it sounds better then the Type R's then woohoo but if it sounds worse then boooooooooo!) and I can't really come up with a percentage becuase it would really comeout as 100% SPL and 100% SQ......

Like I said looking to dominate in the 28-45Hz range and sound good to **** good doing it.

Yes the four 15" Q's have more cone area then the two 18" fully loaded BTL's but the power handling is double that of the four 15" Q's.....

4x 15" Fi Q's = More cone area but certainly not double the coone area.

2x 18" Fi BTL's fully loaded = duble the power handling for the whole substage...

Tough choice as I see my options that are more pheasible in terms of cash flow are really more toward the 4x 15" Q's with 2x Hifonics XX Hercs. (Incl. H.O. Alt.,Kinetik HC 2400's,multiple runs of 0 gauge etc. etc. etc.) then the 2x 18" fully loaded BTL's.

I could either do 4x 15" Q's and 2x XX Hercs. or

Buy 2x 18" fully loaded BTL's (for head room) and 2x XX Hercs. and then later down the road get a 2nd H.O. Alt and some mmore batts. and two more Hercs.

So given that I want to have major SPL on teh low notes (28-45Hz) and sound good doing it what would you recommend?

Particulrly looking for something to slam/dominate on songs like Fergies London Bridges,All Lil Jon,3 6 Mafia etc. etc. etc.

Any FI sub will sound better than type r's //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

I would think that 4 15 Q's would sound better, and possibly be louder than the BTLs ( pending install )

2 15" q sealed hit the same numbers as 1 18" BTL ported in the low 30s both owned by 2 of my teammates

Hmmmm...

15" Q's sounds like the right way to go I guess...There's more air being displaced as the subs play (4x 15" Q's = 7.84ft^3 vs 2x 18 BTL's = 5.86ft^3).....Cost to power is more affordable so that's some money saved.

I think I'll shoot some email at scott.

if you're looking at either setup....sq must not be too important //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Just get to btl 18 and throw them in like 20 cubes //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

What numbers we talking about?Size of each box (after port displacement and sub displacement for the ported of course)?

How much power was being sent to each 15" Q in the sealed box and how much at the single BTL in the 30Hz ported box?

bigger is not better for BTLs that 18" was in like a 10cube box and we are going down to like 5-6cubes and higher tuning.

BTl was in like 10cubes 2 15' were in 4 cubes with 3lbs of polyfill they both hit 145.8 trunk mount legal.

BTL had a 20.1 qs had a MD2
