ok, i was looking at the TB 6x9's and i think some 8's might actually fit in better so i'm asking for more options...the TB's are still in my mind, just looking for other choices as well now...

will be putting them in the rear deck...//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

the thing is that i want to be IB compatible...one that i've found so far would be the TB 8's and Comp8's...

any other ones that you guys can think of that is IB compatible? Price under $100 each please! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

just curious, how would it sound if i took a non IB compatible 8, say CVR or others and put them in a IB setup?

YES I SEARCHED - many posts for regular 8's but none for free air 8's...

Well, what do you define as "IB Capable"?

I personally would look for the highest Qts/Qes possible, but this is hard to find in an 8" driver. Drivers that come to mind include the Ascendant Audio Assassins and the JL Audio 8W0.

ok thanks Neil...

i'll look for that combo then...

i mean IB capable is probably that manufacturer says its IB-able...

Any subwoofer can be placed in an IB alignment.

It's just a matter of understanding how they will perform in that enviornment.

Just because a manufacturer doesn't specifically state that the sub is suitable for IB, it does not mean that it won't perform wonderfully as such....

i kinda knew that but what i didn't know is that how would a sub that was not recommended for IB sound if you do put it in a IB setup?

basicly is it a deal or a big problem if you put a non IB recommended sub in a IB setup?

say a sub with a low Qts/Qes combo?

thanks

The regular kicker comp subs can be used as freeair subs.
i mentioned that one on my first post already...

after researching, i found the 9kv2 also works too...and for $55, it seems to be a pretty good deal...

Depends on what you define as "recommended".

Just because a manufacturer does not verbatim state "recommended for IB installs", it does not mean that the subwoofer will not perform well when ran IB.

So no, there is absolutely no problem using a subwoofer infinite baffle even if it is not explicitly recommended by the manufacturer.

If the Qts is "low", the Qes is going to inherently be pretty "low" aswell.

Some of the most revered IB subwoofers have a relatively low Qts.

Low Q/Low Fs works well.

Look at subs like the Image Dynamics IDQ and IDMax as examples of low-Q subs that work wonderfully well infinite baffle aswell. Unfortunately, neither of those are made in the 8" flavor, but they are examples of low Q/low Fs subs that work well IB.

But the Image Dynamics ID8v3 would work well for you.
