Fi SSD voice coil ?

I got my Fi SSD10 in today. Very nice sub, anyway I ordered a D2 and it doesen't say anywhere what it is. Just on the magnet it says D1 with a black marker. Anyone help me out?

prolly a d1 then. Only way to find out is with a dmm

Ya, it says D2 on the box. What size box you have yours in?

Ok, I'll use a DMM. If I have it in the box could I test it at the wire cup on the box with it wired in series to see if its 4ohms? Or would I have to test each coil?

You can test the wires I believe. It worked for me.

just put the dmm prongs into the termianls on the sub...remember D2 is really 1.5 ohm...

Make sure the cone isn't moving from anything. Other music, a finger, or sitting it on the cone can throw off a reading. 2.6 doesn't sound right to me. Take it out and test each coil. Should only take a sec.

doesn't Fi use 1.4 ohm DCR coils for the 2 ohm model? 2.6 would be just fine...each coil reading 1.3 DCR. SOunds fine to me

woops, I just read he tested at the box. I would varify though.

Well I checked each coil today. It reads 1.3 per coil and 2.7 in series. So my amp is really only seeing 2.7ohms?? Because it seems to be pulling a good bit of current.

Then you have the D2 subwoofer.

No.

You are measuring the DCR of the coils with the DMM, not the nominal impedance.
