Looking for 2 subs, either 15's, or 18's to go in my truck. back seats are out, and it will be off an SAZ 2000d.

I know the fi q, is known for the sound quality. not quite sure what that means for subs.. will it just hit notes well?

also would 2 fi q's smash some lows? i dont do comps but i want loud, crazy bass, or as much as 2k will work with. im 20, im down to shake shit and be heard a block away lol

thanks

kyle

I had a Q 12" running off 1200 rms in 2.6 cubes tuned at 30 and the lows were devastating, I believe the lows were louder than my bl 18" off 1500 rms. They do fall off in the 55-60 hz and up range though but as long as you have a set of good midbass speakers you will be set. Those mb quarts that e46 recomended are also a great sub especially if you want to run sealed, they only need 1.5 cubes per 15. My buddy has 2 of them running off an saz 1000 and they are one of the crispest sounding subs I have ever heard, they are not overpowering loud though but some of the creamiest subs I have ever heard they pick up every note like butter and kill the lows.

i mean, i still want to be super loud, and shake everything and just be heard from far as shit away. but i only have 2k to play with. plus i have an amp rack, and no back seat. so i have alot of space.. but for a truck. Im not really sure what else i would go with. If the Sundown SA 15's ever come out, id like to check into them lol and i was pretty curious about the IA DR subs. The dp subs are a little too strong for what i want to do, but the dr subs were powered right around where i could run 2. but didn't see too many reviews on them. and the fi q was just a thought. im not looking for straight up sq. if it happens its w/e

what makes a sub, a sq sub? is it range of notes (hz) or just less hollow sounding i guess
Generally low FS and ability to play a nice even response in a realistic sized box, whereas SPL oriented drivers are low Q, low mass, high FS, and have a very tight gap.

I've heard a single 15 Q that was very impressive. I suggest if you want the really low lows, look into something with LMS or XBL ^2 motor or other linear/split coil motor tech, this makes a BIG difference under 40hz where you start to run things into high excursions. The Exodus audio woofers are very nice and competitively priced XBL drivers. TC Sounds LMS woofers are outstanding but pricy. Ditto with the RE XXX.

Otherwise most subwoofers you'll be looking at around here have the ability to play loud and low and it'll mostly depend on your box/install/vehicle's accoustics.

I used to run the old 2 15 Q @28hz,30hz and 35hz, with 28 and 30hz they have very good low end extension but lack upper end. With 35hz its has good 35-60hz and loud too. But from what I read, the new Q is an improved version and better than the old ones.

My BL 18 is straight up sick in my truck.. either im ordering another one or getting a custom konaki 18 reconed by PSI. dunno yet,, i would recommend the BL it sounds amazing and gets dirty when needed..
