OK, basically what im looking for here is box plans for a 12 inch fi q. I took some quick bullshit measurements but basically I need help to figure out what shape the box is gonna be so I can get the actual measurements.

Here are my bullshit paint blue prints:

so I got that bump there in the ranger and Im wondering if I should build the box around that or just make a perfect square/rectangle box.

Does the overall shape of the box effect sound quality? And does the direction the cone of the woofer is facing change the box specs?

Im liking the idea of a box that same shape but a bit smaller. The box could sit 5 inches off the ground with the sub downfiring. Anyone who has used a sealed setup think that would be a good option? I searched and most sub firing directions are related to ported. And basically what I was getting at earlier is does that angle in the box above effect sound quality differently than a perfect square/rectangle box? I could rattle of questions all day and know im just gonna have to try something but before I try im looking for others first hand experience.

So can anyone give me box plans or an idea of how big the box needs to be. Should it be perfectly square for sq? I have no clue how tuning is determined but the woofers fs is 28.4hz so should that be what its tuned to for optimum sq?

perfectly square isn't optimal. Are you dead set on an sq only box?

internal dimensions go with 13.25 X 16.75 X 10.5 with the sub mounted on the 13.25x16.75 face in the center

Thats 1.2 cubes net sealed with the golden ratio applied.

Thanks alot for some responses. And yes Im gonna do sealed because I want the best sq possible as all I have now is midbass and Im sure this will be plenty o' bass for me. I will try ported after a bit to see what it can do/ compare but when I decide to do that there are millions of ported designs around.

rpfuror, I was thinking about doing a larged sealed enclosure but then found out the larger the box the lower the sq. The fi manufacturer guys mostly seem to like it 1.5 or even less sealed so what makes you like it at 2 +?

2+ only if your building a ported enclosure. I have 0 experience with these subs sealed, but if Fi recommends them in 1.5 i would stick to that.

I have very good SQ ported. IMO if your using these in a trunk you can increase output with a ported design and not really effect the SQ.
