Fi Q quick question..

i got me a 98 corolla, and i was originally planning on puttin in one or two 12" type R's. that is up untill i found this forums with all this hype about the Fi series. i know several people with Alpine subs, and i dont feel like being the same. so i wonna try out the Fi Q, but i am just curious what everyones opinions are as too the following few questions:

1. (Assuming a 15" will fit) is it worth the money to increase from a single 12" to a single 15" in a Corolla

2. if you believe it is worth the 15", will the SQ dramatically decrease, im a SQ kinda guy, but i want it to be nice and well... deafening too.

there was another question but i forgot it as i was writing this thread.

im not a complete noob, though this is my first system. but i have done much searching on this forums and others but i am still debating as too which sub would sound better in a Corolla.

ANY input on anything on the Fi Q series or the Alpine type R's is much appreciated and welcome in this thread.

IMO the Q is more SQ than the R and it gets plenty loud. The theory of the 15 being less accurate is a myth, i've used both and if you have the same woofer, one a 12 and 1 a 15 the response should be just the same. I have a 15 Q and you would not be disappointed. I'd pick one over the alpines any day of the week

I have a Fi Q 15" in my civic and love it, great sub, gets deep and sounds good.

fuk the q pay a little and get the fi BL sq and gets way louder. its worth every buck.

I would definitely take a q over a type r any day. Great woofer that sounds great and loud.

the Q is a great sub, well worth the money. IMO the 12" with 900-1k rms is plenty loud enough for most people, and sounds good too. put it in a 2.0-2.5 cube box tuned to 32hz and you're set

The R is a good sub for the money. If you want to spend more I'm sure you will be happy with the Q. It just depends on money and power.

I miss my Type R's that lasted me for years until they sat for awhile and then put them back in and poof!

Q couldn't get to last for more than 2 months with out a problem.

Q sounded better and was loud, but had 2 type R's to one Q. 1 on 1 the Q is louder IMHO, but just didn't last in my case.

I say check into Stereointegrity.com. New Mags, or BM's might be something to check into if you are into more SQ.

and yea, i was going to ask how teh quality is on the Q, cause i know R's (in most cases) are insane on durability.

I live in Vegas right next my little buddy scott who builds these FI monsters. i can tell you 100% that these KILL any Alpine speakers made BY FAR!!! go FI all the way, you won't be unsatisfied
