Fi Q for IB?

Yeah I wanted to go sealed but Rick from RaamAudio has me convinved about it also so I def want to go that route.
I've talked to rick too when I bought my rammat //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif . He really highly recommends the IDMax's for IB, because it's just such a great setup.

For IB, I would set the subs up with a higher qts and softer suspension... while they will work in your current box, they will not be as optimal as the standard Q12 would be in it. The modded subs would give you a little more SQL type output and less SQ... then moving them into a full IB setup, they would be very smooth and detailed... loosing much of their output vs the ported box. IB setups are very celan and sound great if sealed properly, but lack the same output of a sealed or ported enclosure. You wont lose SQ, but you will loose overall output... might not be an issue to you if trunk space is at a premium.

That's the message from Scott, I think if u reall wanted to it wouldn't be bad going for a IB setup for the Q's, because scott will go out of his way to help u customize the sub for ur needs. Which is great customer service. ( I hope he didnt mind me posting that.)

here is part of one of the emails I got from Rick( had like 11, //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif)

Here is something I highly recommend for your car, my buddy did this to

his LS400 and I have seen it done with numerous other solid cars like

yours with the ID Max.

IB, if my car it is the only way I would use those subs, no matter what

you do or what others say, having your subs coupled into the air space

you are in will just plain sound better and can weigh less, take up less

space in the trunk, etc.

You will still need to deaden the trunk for IB but it will sound so

good, you will not mind the extra work to do this.

Yeah thats when I decided after talking to RIck on the phone that I needed to hear it in my car and found one luckily. Man does it sound awesome. I dont care much for SPL. I WANT SQ. lol. I have enough trunk space and enough power for the loudness. BUt anyways, this is a stricly SQ setup and thats what I want. Even if I reach 120DB ill be happy lol. But Im leaning more towards IDMAX, ID, or Q if Scott can do it for me.

I would love to see a customized Q12 in an IB, I loved my IDMax, but ID's customer service just isnt that great, the whole waiting for weeks and months just to get a recone was irritating, as Scott will go out of his way to help u. But either way, I think they will wil all sound great, with great SQ. so GL on ur choice

I love my Q's but I also loved the IDMax, just couldn't wait for recone, now just need to get an better alt so my amp doesnt clip everytime it tries to draw the power that the amp wants to feed the Q's I say I am barely putting 650-750 rms to each max right now. I think he'll do it for the regular price, since he builds every sub, but I'm not positive, u can try emailing them. or send him a PM.

You said hed upp the Qts and have a softer suspension...

You didnt say what he added/removed from the motor or what kind of suspension he decided to use. I was looking for specifics.

well obviously I can answer that, I own the shop and make the subs. He uses very unique suspensions that no one can know about.

Sound Quality is often frequency response related...so you cant really say since its personal preference. They all offer different responses, but if you wish you can alter one to sound alike another. The install and box the subwoofer is placed in also have a HUGE influence on how it will sound and perform, almost as much as the sub itself.

an exaggerated top-end may sound *tight* or an exaggerated low-end may sound *boomy*

SPL is directly correlated to displacement

SPL: Q (they come in up to 18s and cost just as much as an idmax) > IDMax > IDQ
