FI Q Comparable to the Audioque HD3?

Aq 4 cubes tuned to 40hz and it will still destory lows...and are ya'll seriously comparing the fi q to a hd3 in spl?
I was waiting for someone who knows firsthand to comment on this. I have not owned either sub but I have seen some spl numbers on those hd3's... and they are remarkable. I can't imagine the Q keeping up with them in spl.

This is no slight against FI's Q. They apparently have amazing potential in the SQ department.

no they are comparing it to a BTL in SPL. Qs get loud, even sealed, but I dont think they are on the same page as a HD3. I'd put em against an SX in SPL I think. SQ wise Q's are way cleaner than the BTLs, never heard a HD3 tuned to a DD.

without the cooling/3rd slug - Corrected //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
not exactly corrected...

you should be more specific...you make it seem as if the HD3 has no cooling at all...DJ just stepped in my other thread saying that the HD3's cooling is not as impressive as 9500's and the 9500's has the best cooling he has ever seen...

but it does cool daym well enough that you should be able to give it 6K burps and up to 2500 daily if you wanted to...

It was in his opinion that it was the best he has ever seen //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif. I personally havent done any testing with any of their newer stuff while keeping cooling in mind...but take that for what its worth //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif Just another opinion in the coffee can.

Something about tuning to 40hz and "destroying the lows" doesnt seem right...

I've messed with virtually every DD driver made from 2004 and back and i've always tuned them lower and had great results...

I remember the days of the very first 3515's //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif they were loud back then...

They're designed to play well under tuning which is why 40hz is recommended. They do sound really god though.

People have said the subs peak 3-5hz lower than tuning, which is odd because it's usually the other way around.

I'm thinking of tuning 35-36hz in 3cu ft, with 45+ sq in of port.

The 9515d that my buddy Brian had was tuned to 32hz. It was **** loud and still sounded decent. He seriously needs to upgrade his electrical though. With a single Lanzar Opti1000D in his T-Bird @ 1 ohm, it was going into protection on LNT on the second drop. Doesn't help that he had another amp running his Adire Koda's....

Personally, a 95 series is one of the best SPL drivers around, and if installed right and tuned right, can still sound good.

No experience with the Fi drivers yet, hope to hear one or play with one soon...
