Made this thread so we can compare the 2, but how does the hdc3 compare to the Q or the BL and such...

Exclude the BTL cuz its obvious + its likea $100 more.

the Fi Q is more for SQ than SPL, where i think the BL is a lot like the HDC3, probably couldn't hear the difference...

HDC is hard to beat for the $$$. Very solid sub that can sound good and get very loud. I run a Q in the GF's car and tried to talk her into an HDC, but she didn't want it "that" loud. Q is a very good sub also, but if you have the power I'd do the HDC...

I'm a little confused as to why this thread exists.

There have been tons of these vs threads in the past, just search.

Besides that, the HDC and the Q are completely different drivers with different goals. The HDC is an SPL based sub with little SQ, while the Q is geared towards SQ while having a little SPL.

Dunno.In the great 12" challenge the Q beat out the BLT in SPL on a few frequencies.

And I believe at half the power

Oh I realize that, but that doesn't change the goals of the Q. I'm pretty sure every sub in the great 12" challenge saw 1000 watts. The Q's RMS is 1000 watts, while the BTL's is 2000. The BTL isn't meant to be a super efficient woofer, while the Q is pretty efficient. It is expected the the Q will get louder than the BTL than the Q at 1000 watts. I'll go read up the great 12" challenge again, but box could also be a factor.

EDIT: The BTL saw 2000 watts, and the Q saw 1000. The Q was louder at some frequencies as you said. I am pretty sure they were in the same enclosure though, which is the main factor. The BTL should not be in the same enclosure as the Q by any means. Besides that, the Q is a very efficient woofer, while the BTL isn't efficient by any means.

Oh, I realize that. If we were talking flat out SQ subs I would be recommending the Idmax or Mag v4. Either way, the Q does not sound bad by any means and the sub has completely different goals than the HDC.

I re-re-edited. You are correct. The BTL is a much less efficient woofer though, and was in the same box as the Q.

He said probably. He has not done a direct drop in and neither can I so I can't really speak about it. I think they would sound different though for obvious reasons, such as the BL likes lower tuning.

I just searched BL vs HDC and found 5 different threads, if not more on that subject. I don't see why anyone else can't do the same.
