FI BL vs AQ HDC3

In that area, I think when my 15s where shipped it was a total of 90~ pounds?
Sorry I was referring to my 15's
Your wrong, mine were 110 llbs total for 2 copper coil hdc3 15's
I was about to say, I think my 15 HDC3 was like 54 pounds shipping weight or something like that. NO wood or anything like that in the box either. So 50ish. Mine is easily handling 2200 watts and it's a copper coil. I've seen mlstrass' 6kw on 2 15 copper coils, and another guy had 4kw on 2 18s but might be upping that to 4k each on 2 18s. The HDC3 is a good sub.

So how much rms wattage would you guys recommend to an 18"

HDC3, and what amp would you recommend, tuning for the box, etc... Lets just say I have plenty of trunk space for now and I will figure out what the actual specs are later.

great. Thank you all for your opinions... i really like when people justify their opinions and not just say "_____ sucks!" Looks like its pretty steady with everyone thinking the AQ is better.

I heard the BTL should not be used daily... I had a 15" MA Audio HK quad voice coil before. I had about 2000wrms to it and it hit hard and shook everything, but you could barley hear the bass.

will the AQ HDC3 18" pound hard and get loud? I can tune the box to whatever i can make fit in my car.

Let's put it this way. My audioque 18 was louder than both 15 l7s. I'm not saying this will be the case for everyone, but hands down a better sub. They get very loud. You won't be dissapointed.

I would reccomend 7-8 Cf with 112-128 inches of port area tuned to about 38-40 hertz. you see that high tuning and think well i want lows... The hdc3 Will give you amazing lows at that tuning and will be loud as fvck. tuning to 34-37 will Be Very very low but not as loud. While The copper coil HDC3's will take plenty of power, up to about 2500k daily if you know what your doing and feed it clean power. While the aluminum can take even more, They are made with the intentions of 2k+ and are capable of alot. Ive heard people talk about the copper coils being more musical than the aluminum and vice versa. Imo its not really an audible difference while some say that the aluminum have better Sq to the fact that aluminum is lighter there fore alloqing the cone to mover faster as well as aluminum being able to decipate heat faster than copper which means better cooling. To power these beastzzz you could probably be fine with a AQ 2200 on a copper coil either at .5ohm or 1ohm. Those amps are fine at that impiedance just dont be stupid. The aluminum will be louder on the same power as well. but if you are going with the aluminum, either the AQ2200d at .5 ohm or the 3500d at 1ohm will push one perfectly

hmm.... so between the 18" BTL and the 18" HDC3 is there a big difference or does everyone think the HDC3 is still better.

A fully loaded BTL is $499 and the AQ with Aluminum coils is $340

Cool, cause if i get one of these it will be replacing my two 15" L7s.

Thank you. I was going to ask if there was a audible difference was between the alum. and copper coils. I might be able to work the dimensions of my box to get 7ft depending on the mounting depth of the sub. My trunk is decent size, but the opening is small. I dont think i build one inside my trunk and still be strong.
