FI BL vs AQ HDC3

Lookin at getting some new subs. I have heard good and bad about both. Both seem close to the same specs and price. FI BL series or AQ HDC3s. I have about 6.5 cubes to work with and 2000wrms. Its going in the trunk of my 02 Monte Carlo.

Looking for good SPL that sounds good. considering either two 12"s or a single 18".

Heard AQ is better then FI, but also heard AQ has a different type of sound.

2 HDC's will laugh at 2k of power, so a single 18 might be better. Sound is very good on the HDC. They sound "tight" for lack of a better term, but can get VERY loud doing it, so perhaps that's the "different" sound used to describe them. Not boomy or muddy at all.

Haven't heard a BL, only Q's and BTL's....

Hey guys I was really looking to do something similar to this. How loud do HDC3's get compared to BL's, the 18" version and for SPL. Also, I keep seeing people put 2200 watt amps on single HDC3's but it says that they run at 1,000 watts rms, or did they wire them in parallel to two ohms?

With the aluminum coils a HDC-3 can handle well over 2Kw if done properly

Really? It says they take 2000 watts at the most on their site, but heck, now I'm all over the HDC3. How loud is it compared to a BL?

Never heard a BL personally but the HDC's get pretty **** loud for how cheap they are imo

I can get an HDC3 18" with an aluminum coil for around $340 off of their site yes? I'll probably go for the HDC3. How loud do they get compared to Alpine Type R's do you think? And what is this about people saying they sound different.

They actually sound really clean and quick to me, I like them, and R's are no comparison

Sweet thanks. Any idea on a good amp I can get for it that is cheap also? How much RMS wattage should I throw at it anyways?

You will FRY a BL on 2k rms daily. A friend had two on two SAZ1500D's and after about 15-20 mins of beating on them(at 1ohm nom per amp) the dust caps on the woofers were so hot I couldn't keep my hand on there for more than a few seconds, and he was not playing below tuning for those wondering.

HDC vs BTL should be your comparison for single woofers, and then bl's vs the copper HDC's for dual sub setup.

And the HDC3 18" will blow away a BL then?
