fi 12" in excursion cargo door?

Well, the Fi 12 is bigger, deeper, heavier and needs more airspace to work right. If you can overcome all of those issues, it should work out fine.

how does the air space work when its in something like that? does it just have to fit in the spot and thats it? or do you have to modify your cargo door...?

There has to be some kind of enclosure for the sub. The inside of the door in the pic you linked has been modded to house the enclosure.

do you think it would take more than $300 for some custom audio shop to make that?

chances are to fit it in there, they are probably going to have to fiberglass ur entire door or pretty much make a new door. If its a good professional shop it'd probably cost more than $300, a cheap shop might do it for that price for 1 door.
haha i was quoted at $350 for a box that was 9.3 cubes nothing custom about it....so for that kinda custom work the answer is yes IMO

Gonna cost some big bucks for a shop to do that. My friend had a box built in his Mustang, cost him $350 as well. Slot port box too.

people get charged too much for boxes, i can understand if its fiberglass and crap, but regular boxes. egh
