Felt 2 (Slug & Murs) Review

Well the album has hit the newsgroups, I dont think its supposed to come out till mid July though, I WILL definitly actually purchase it then.

First thing that struck me about this album the first run through was that it sounds commercial in production if you know what I mean. Like I could picture this stuff on MTV, whether that is good or bad I'm still not sure. Previous stuff by Slug and Murs all has a real underground feel, this feels different, but I kinda like it. Of course, lyrically, these guys shine, nothing commercial about that.

I wont go song to song with this one, a couple highlights were, well first "woman tonight" which uses, IIRC, a Phil Collins line through the chorus, the reason it was a highlight was not the actual song, though its alright in itself. It was because Slug performed this at one of his concerts I went to earlier this year and we all had no idea what it was from, now I know //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif The last song, "I shot a warhol" puts Murs on the lead with Slug providing the backup vocals the whole way through, cool song.

Overall, my first impression is that this is something new for Slug, maybe a glimpse of what the upcoming Atmosphere album will sound like, maybe it'll be his breakout. For Murs, well, he holds it down, they compliment eachothers styles well. I'd definitly recommend checking this album out for those who dont really even know these guys, and if you know them, well, you'll be gettin it anyways.

I put it on my soundclick so its only 128 sorry. I dont know if you know these guys so just in case, the first guy is Slug, the second is Murs (murs is the more black sounding guy). I researched this song and it turns out Slug doesnt relaly like it that much, the chorus atleast.

They call themselves Felt, which is Slug (of Atmosphere) and Murs (of Living Legends). They are more or less nationwide underground, pretty well known, but on small labels.
