Alright I've been going back on forth on this. After reading the stickied thread "Proper Door Sound Deadening and You" I planned on putting eggcarton foam behind my mids to reduce standing backwaves when I install my components, as many people like the results after doing so. However, the only kind that has nice tall peaks is open-cell, which needs waterproofing. Waterproofing will remove its open-cell advantages, which ramos pointed out in an older thread. So now I can't decide the best course of action.
I could get the closed-cell, outdoor sleeping-mat-style foam from walmart which apparently doesn't work as well, I could use the open cell stuff waterproofed with 50/50 titebond and water, or do nothing, or deflex pads (meh), or use something else... Tell me your thoughts on this guys. Right now full-on door deadening with mat/liquid deadener is out of budget and I'm trying to keep the car light-ish. What have your thoughts/experiences been with this?
