No you really dont. I use Liquid Nails glue and trust me, from personal experience, a glued joint will hold tighter than the wood itself,lol. The screws are only there to hold the peices together and tight until the glue dries.well i did buy screws but i dont think ima use em. elmers wood glue ftw.
i read you dont even need em with a properly glued box...so ima find out.

Yea thats true. I built a box one time and had to recut a new side peice for it. I had to literally take a hammer and flathead and chisel the old peice out where it was glued.word.shit on the elmers bottle , it claims the glue bonds tighter than the wood itself.
just got one more side on so i think ima end up finishing the box before work tomorrow and let it sit another night. dunno if ima paint it or not.
