february 28th ( very long and involved)

just saw this. everything was great and i agreed until i came upon the Black History Month. BHM is just about the dumbest thing that anyone can think of IMO. It just segregates us even more and IMO more white people care about it then black people. They get all hyped about it in their class rooms and I remember when I was in school. Every BHM we learned about the same **** people. Only reason i learned more was because I explored on my own.

On the "*****" issue. it will never stop IMO. It would slow down/ become not a popular word choice if rap artists didnt use it, but they do....but I dont mind it as i use it at least 20 times a day :X.

The question is why?
Why do people glorify such poor choices? Why does BET glorify such choices. If mainstream black media does not help reverse these negative stereotypes (and I stereotype. If I see a guy with a pocket full of cash I assume both he is a drug dealer and that he is stupid) How come even though "white media" focuses on the negative aspects of our culture, white are still regarded as successful?
**** good question, and the simples answer I can think of is this.

It generates revenue. It helps boost the whole "hood" image thing and in that sense, those that are still in the struggle respect rappers, ect. more for it. That in term helps those on top keep a very stable base of customers.

As for WHY they do it, im going to go out on a limb here and guess they get paid very VERY well to do so by sponsors. wheel/tire manufacturers (lol) and anything in general that they push into the spotlight, ect. you get the point.

Wow interesting read.Names are given at times with the intent of that individual standing out from others even if it is difficult to pronounce or spell. Names are a complex subject based on religious, cultural, national, etc. beliefs.

I have noticed of late that the pants around the thighs look has been slowly fading away. It is a style and like most styles is supplanted by the next eventually no matter the message of the style. I am 51 and as a teen my style was hair to the middle of my back, long beard, tattered bell bottom jeans at times with some sort of tapestry sewn on the bottom, a multitude of sewn on patches advocating all sorts of things...ie Zig Zag Man lol, Peace Symbol, etc...to adults we were an odd bunch and at times ridiculed for our clothing but it was just a fad to stand out and be anti-establishment but eventually was just a fad and faded away.

Racism is very dangerous whether it is whites hating blacks, blacks hating whites or any other group. I think organizations such as the NAACP started with good intentions but swung to an extreme, like most such organizations do, I am not singling them out except as an example, by too many that hate and are using the organization and their new found power to exploit their own hatred and vengeance is their true goal. But that is my opinion.

I have no comment on hair styles because as a blond white boy with straight hair I remember when I paid good money to get a perm, a style at the time, to my eventual and everlasting embarrasement therefore rendering any opinion I may have as worthless hehehe.

Overall good thread and replies.

Adio have to done any research on the religious links?

ok, i think its a gatdaam shame that black people have to protect themselves against black people:mad:

the new KKK is black

http://www.caraudio.com/forum/showpost.php?p=3420888&postcount=26

i've been thinkin about that topic for months, but after reading a little bit on the jena 6, coupled with seeing 2 books in borders bookstore on pimping Pimpology: The 48 Laws of the Game and cheating The Black Man's Guide on How to Cheat on Your Woman, and hearing about the homicide rate in philadelphia on the steve harvey morning show on 9/19/07, I feel I have to write something here.

What I don’t understand is how black people in the present year of 2007, consciously, purposefully choose a mentality of slave psychology, with the results being a dangerous psychosis that seems to lean towards crime, death and disrespect. I found an article from someone anonymous that typed this in regards to slave psychology:

An INNATE SLAVE, born and bred, understands itself as a slave, sees slavery as its heritage, and unless corrupted in some way, is generally conformable with that identity. It expects use and domination, is glad when use and domination are received, and renders service as its natural activity. A COERCED SLAVE will always need to be under strict restraint, with physical punishment to break down its former self and remold it into a new self. An innate slave’s past works for its use and domination, and a coerced slave’s past works against it. http://members.aol.com/slv4wisemstr/

It seems a type of reversal has taken place in a portion of black America. Innate ( read mental) slavery has bred crime, death and disrespect among African Americans to such a high degree that when someone stands up and speaks out, airing “ dirty laundry”, they are trying to COERCE the innate slave to break down its former self and remold into something new, assuming that the speaker(s) are aiming for one to be intelligent, respectful, socially and culturally conscious.

When I heard that the homicide rate in Philadelphia, Pa was so high among young black males that the Philadelphia branch of the Millions More Movement felt the need to step in and call for 10,000 men to voluntarily help stop blacks from killing other blacks, I was totally shocked………. More than a shake my head side to side and exhale slowly through my nostrils. Shocked that black males are killing other black males at an extreme rate, even though some of them may be fully aware of it. Are black people the new KKK?

And dumbass at Simon and Schuster thought it was a good idea to give pimpin ken a book deal?!!??!?!?!??!!? Pimps have always been a source of admiration in the black community, but when did they become explosively popular? Do people feel that pimps are worthy of on-air news time and being followed by paparazzi?? Do music video directors feel that pimps lend credibility to rappers who rap about pimpin? Why do rappers feel that pimps are an acceptable, not good or great, but an acceptable model for how to deal with black women?? Pimps are leeches and nobody ****in likes leeches!!! I read some of pimpin kens book; Law 37 to be exact ‘Let a Ho Know’. I thought Flavor flav was bad with the minstrel life……… every 6thor 7th line I read was a rhyme ‘slap that ho extra slow’, ‘ make yo feet hit the ground and get yo *** around’, on and on. I hope I can still be around, mentally and physically, when back “men” like these finally grow out of the “old teenager” stage and into the man stage. I hope I can still be around, mentally and physically, when they realize that pimps are out to steal and kill, daylight vampires that **** the life out of women and further destroy the black community, possibly the same one they themselves live in. Are black people the new KKK?

http://www.vpc.org/press/0701homicide.htm

http://www.vpc.org/studies/blackhomicide.pdf ß 20 page report from 2004

Today, it seems if you’re black you have to worry more about other blacks than whites!!! Here in Pittsburgh, Pa, do you feel safer being in eat n park in squirrel hill than in you do at Eljay’s in Wilkinsburg? Do you have to keep on guard more when you’re at Ace Duece on the hill than you do when you’re at Six Penn downtown?

Do you think about racial discrimination from white people (male or female) and hopin you don’t get hit from a stray bullet or experiencing a senseless murder from a black male in equal parts? Do you think black people will screw you over more than white people? Are black people the new KKK??

dedicated to brentin mock...... if i could write like him, this woulda turned out so much better
