so i decided i wanted to buy some good meters and start settin shit the right way. so i thought hey i should get an occiloscope. so i call the local shop and sai"hey where do i buy one and how would i use it" there responce "your outta your mind if you think we can give you that information, then you would come to us to do the job for you" yeah but a decent meter would only cost about 60-75 bucks and i could do it myself forever thus saving money, how much would yall charge me to do it this time?" responce: " well since now we know your eventually gettin a meter for yourself we would charge you twice the normal amount so 150 and we will set it for ya" my reaction wasnt nice cause it pissed me off. nothin important i jus thought it was funny, now i remember why i been doin my own shit along with all my friends shit and there friends shit for the last 5 years! screw payin for labor learn it and do it on your own people! no offence to those of you who work/own shops maybe yalls customer service is better but if thats your attitude when an audio enthusiast is interested in the same dream you had when you opened your shop i hope you never get another customer! total gayness! that is all carry on now my rant is over!

Wow, that is really dumb.

I work in the field personally... and I would never do something like that... Mater of fact I'd likely lose my job.

But its is becoming a tougher field to stay in (atleast in my area) and less people have money to spend and its not as big of a market as it once was.

and it tends to show... shops slamming each other, slandering each other, shops promoting thing that shouldnt be.

It showed when I talked to a local shop and he basically said I was stupid for looking into 4/0 wire.. and that one run of his 7$ a foot 0 gauge wire will sufficiently carry up to 550 amps over 20 feet with no significant voltage drop....***edit***i should have worded it differently... he didnt say UP TO, he said it WILL carry 550***end edit**

Basically because he didnt have 4/0 wire.... he was trying ot talk me into buying what he had around...

similar scenario:

I have a 3 or 4 good friends that work at a local respected audio shop, 1 of whom is the owner. last week i walk in there, sometimes i go there just to chill and bull sh*t, this time was to talk to the guys next door that do window tint (for my g/f's new truck). the owner says "so, what do you want". i was like "what". hes like "not to be a douche, but you only come here when you want something." It pissed me off, i worked my way out of there real quick to go next door and start talking about the window tint with the other guys next door. f'n gay.

whole time i was thinking: "isnt that WHY people come here? to buy sh*t from you, wtf"

yeah, same thing man, my boy works at that shop im always in there chillin cleanin helpin with shit always jus to be around stereos and not always around the misses and the kids! and then they feed me that bull shit! i buy mad shit from there, granted its usually door speakers or wires fuses blocks basically small things that i need to do a job for a friend or something so its not like they didnt get my buisness! but now i think ill jus stick with online car stereo.com cause if thats what i get for askin for assistance or help on something then the hell with them. i understand the not giving out free stuff ordeal but someone opens a shop cause they love to do what they do. shouldn't that person be happy to help someone who has the same dream or somethin? its kinda like playin for the same team! you wouldnt tell you fellow burger flipper to buy a burger else where cause they asked how to flip the patty would you?
