Favorite MLB Team

the part that distrubed me the most, was the portion on uppers in baseball.

i will never looka thte game the same way until there is testing for perfpormance enhancing drugs...

gone is my reverance for the players abilities, gone is my faith in the game...

sweeping changes must be made....

i have trouble watching a game and not thinking, 'i wonder hwat HES using'......

i thought that nothing could change my love of the game...

i was wrong...

Yeah, no kidding....I only know of 1 player that I dont think does drugs...and its Sammy Sosa...he said that he is against them and believes in testing for them. On the other hand...I have my doubts about most players, such as Barry Bonds. He said that some players use them and some players dont...so I dont know, he doesnt seen the type. Ever hear that he is one of the "snobbiest" players in the MLB becasuse he has his own big screen TV and stereo in the biggest change stall ??

Oh, I forgot, the other thing that bugs me is all the rookies doing drugs because they think they have to be big to make the big leagues...but then again, doesnt it seem like you have to be big to play? If I had a team, I would pick based on skill, wouldnt you?

yea, one of the first bball players to use stuff like that was brady anderson. Look at him now, not even starting, and he was batting less than 200 before he was released by the indians this year. ANd Mcguire, he couldn't hit all those home runs unless he used creatine and andro!!!!!!!

Mark McGwire was an established homerun hitter before he hit the 70 homeruns. His rookie year he hit 39 or so. I used creatine in high school, it didn't make me that much better. Creatine is a natural substance in the human body. Some people spend countless hours in the weight room, and they never touch any performance products, while others do. I do believe Barry Bonds has taken some kind of performance product. Just by looking at pictures of him when he was w/pittsburg, and looking at him now. You can't blame the players, if there is no enforcement or rule in place to stop things like that, then why not take advantage of it. It's their body, if they choose to put themselves at risk, then that is their problem. If the league decides to test, then if someone is caught using steroids, then they can take action, but currently they aren't testing, so you can't really take anything away from someone. I simply look at it this way, you have guys that spend all day practicing, then you have guys that spend a couple hours. Who is going to be better. They are just taking steps they think are necessary to better themselves. Until someone says no, it will be available to them. Why get mad about it, people like the homeruns.

All I gotta say is that the players dont think its wrong because everyones doing it. I know that I worked out lots and spent endless hours on the field practicing, and some steroid filled dude got the spot on the college team and I didnt...still pissed about that but oh well. Phatillusion, you covered it all and we are very similar thinkers.

Watching the Home Run Derby as we speak...Sosa is amazing...Giambi is also. Steroids should be banned in the MLB, and until the players union gets the balls to test for steroids the integrity of the game will be questioned for years to come. Hell, I mean records are falling like doves in a cornfield and everyone is wondering why. The best quote I have heard is this "They are messing with my childhood memories, I take that personally" This is what an older gentleman had to say about players today, compaired to the greats of the past...

Well Ranger, can you blame the players? I can't, it's out there and it's not banned from the league, they have a nice big come and get it sign out there. To some people it's cheating to me it isn't, until it's banned. It's all about money, better performance=better pay. I don't know who uses them, and I don't know who doesn't, if they want to put their body at risk, then that is their business until rules and regulations are in place. Baseball has placed this huge price on players that perform w/ or w/o drugs. Companies are customer based, and the baseball customers want to see homeruns, not duck farts.

I cant say i think its ok that they use perfomance enhancing drugs but regardless of using them u still have to get the ball in the air and thats obviosly hard otherwise everyone would already be doing it and noone would need the p.e.d. . . as far as the records being broken part of that is just the evolution of the game and the products they use ie: type of wood for bat , size of field , hight of mound . . all has to do with hitting and pitching records being broken . . . only crazy ones that remain that will probly always are ones like consecutive game hitting streak and consecutive games played cause they are more skill and luck than they are performance related

i know i know.

MLB needs profit sharing and a salary cap..

**** collective bargaining agreement...

the Jays are my perrenial fave, but they have no pitching, none, nuthin...

carpenter, hinske, lopez are teh only things close to bright spots for taht team right now...

the way things are goign right now, cotract the 2 canadian teams into a team out here in western canada, lol.

all teh 'spos need is a new stadium, teh people of montreal love their baseball, but taht stadium is THE WORST PLACE to watch a game i have ever seen..

I was there for a game last year, we were third row behind the expo dugout... couldnt tell if teh pitcher ahd a beard... it's ridiculous how far away fro mteh field you are...

the field out ehre in kelowna (the one the grizzlies used to use) is 10x beter to wathca agme at...

Ranger I know your not on the board as much anymore, but how bout them Braves, they look like the team to beat right now. Excellent pitching, decent hitting, haven't heard much of Chipper, but if his bat comes around, things could start looking awfully rough for opposing teams. But then again, you got the Yankees, who are buying up all the big named players that are being put on the trading market. They really need to put some kind of salary cap on baseball.
