Mark McGwire was an established homerun hitter before he hit the 70 homeruns. His rookie year he hit 39 or so. I used creatine in high school, it didn't make me that much better. Creatine is a natural substance in the human body. Some people spend countless hours in the weight room, and they never touch any performance products, while others do. I do believe Barry Bonds has taken some kind of performance product. Just by looking at pictures of him when he was w/pittsburg, and looking at him now. You can't blame the players, if there is no enforcement or rule in place to stop things like that, then why not take advantage of it. It's their body, if they choose to put themselves at risk, then that is their problem. If the league decides to test, then if someone is caught using steroids, then they can take action, but currently they aren't testing, so you can't really take anything away from someone. I simply look at it this way, you have guys that spend all day practicing, then you have guys that spend a couple hours. Who is going to be better. They are just taking steps they think are necessary to better themselves. Until someone says no, it will be available to them. Why get mad about it, people like the homeruns.
