What's you favorite cheapish (around $100), small enclosure (Bonus points if it's under 5"deep (your average truck box).

I have heard & liked:

JL-10w1v2 (but not as much as the w3, that is deeper than 5")

Decent:

Pioneer Shallow 10" - decent with over 400W amp, sounded as if it was hitting bottom with less (weird, because is supposed to be 87 db efficient, it might have a nasty impedance curve or somethin')

Kenwood Shallw 10": bad in a .65 cu truck box but decent in a demo bow w. unknown dimensions).

Any toughts on the edesigns 11kv2 & SQ10? Alumapro? Earthquake?

Any body has heard the new Alpine truck box that uses a bunch of little subs & a PDX amp?

I haven't actually listened to either of these but considering them for myself (truck box and low volume)

Phoenix Gold RSD10d http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/ProductDetail.aspx?ProductID=17538

and Treo SSi 10 (more around $200 per though //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif )

everything I can read says that both of these sound good but don't necessarily get as loud as other similar subs

Do you have an amp chosen yet?
There are a few amps small enough for what I have in mind. Most of them put out around 250-300 watts at 4 ohms; up to 500 at 2. I usually like how subs sound better at 4 ohms, unless the amps has a huge damping factor (like the JLs with something like 600). I have heard Audison(lrx400), RF (T500), JL, Alpine PDX & memphis (500) and they all did a good job on the 10W1v2. The Pioneer needed at least 400 W to sound decent (??????). I got recommended the Pdx 1.600 more than the 1000 at the Tigard CarToys because it seems its more stable (they were blowing fuses on the 1000, but it could be just a bad setup)...

HI!

Ascendant Audio is offline...

The CVT seems to work best in a vented (larger) enclosure.

It's gonna have to be between the Dayton, the SD-1, ed 11kv2 or the Phoenix Gold RSD10d.

Can't hear any of them around here, anybody knows how do they compare?

THANKS!
