Faulty RF T40001bd?

Hello.

I've bought a Rockford Fosgate T4000bd amplifier, and it turns out I think it is faulty.

It distorts the sound over a given output level, way below where it should run into any problems.

I have confirmed this using a o scope.

The signal in is clean and it gets plenty power.

It doesn't matter if the gain is set high and input signal is low or the gain is set low and input signal is high..

Over a certain output it starts clipping:(

I have little or no knowledge of how these amplifiers work, so I am asking you:

What dou you think is wrong? And do you think it is worth to have repaired?

Check out Db-r

He dose work on many brands and is the first one I would talk to and if he can't he probably knows who can.

That is a very nice amp when working and needs a skilled amp technician to make it right.

Of course its worth it. Its a great amplifier. If you dont want it id buy it.
Great amp indeed //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif But it depends on how much it will cost to repair it if I`ll do it or not..

Probably a great amp technician, but I am located in Norway and the shipping both ways will be very expensive //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif So i`ll try to find someone local that can do the job, but first would like to know what is wrong with it and why

Sorry I did not see your location

You should message Rockford Fosgate so they can direct you to a repair center.

Diagnosing could be tricky unless you have a schematic with component values and proper testing equipment

I`ve gotten the schematic from rockford and i know a real good electrical technician.

I bought another amplifier to use while the rockford is being repaired, but I am experiencing the same thing with this amplifier on basicly the same output.

So I am beginning to think that the issue is not whith the amplifier but with something else.

I`ve tried several source units and my electrical system is pretty good with max .2v drop at the loudest volume I can play without clipping.

Any good or bad troublshooting advice you can give me before I start tearing my hair out?
