Don never went into testing the products for those years with an evil plan that he was going to start his own business after years of telling people the test results then build a product to those results. For years he helped Ant a great deal. The tests cost him money because of the amount of time over the years and the cost of the site etc etc. The argument is really starting to get insane. 

In reality, Don did it the way it should have been done. Years of research and testing on his own, that way he knew the industry and the products inside and out well before he released his own. People are jumping into the sound deadening industry with out having a clue about the products or materials as explained in the thread linked earlier in this topic.

Its kind of funny how Don was always very supportive of SecondSkin's product, based on the test results. But once Don decided, 4 years later, to open his own company, suddenly the test was all a big scam to discredit his future competitors.

This ecrack guy is a moron. EVERY single person that has used SDS products has given it amazing reviews, both the product and ESPECIALLY the customer service, in comparison to other brands.. Not one time have I read anything negative about them. The tests are legit and I've seen other tests done by users comparing different products with SDS coming out on top.

BTW ecrack, I just realized this thread is in the tech section. I should not have let this disagreement get to this point. Feel free to disagree with me all you want, but the name calling is done. You want to call me names, head over to the t-dome and do it. Dont do it here again.

Thanks, and I would, but its an audio based 'technical' thread (or it was lol... sorry BB). Im not going to move it to the wrong forum just to allow ecrack to keep calling names. Like I said above, he can go over the the t-dome if he wants to have that level of a discussion. Or better yet, he can PM me his thoughts, where I can reply without holding back like I have to/chose to here.

You just chose the wrong side of the argument on this one but to attempt to divert attention from the logical raping you've been given by saying I'm merely calling you names is hilarious.

I got samples from forum members, I bought a bunch of speaker kits and once the thing had been going for a few years, manufacturers started sending me samples to test. The original SDS had over 250,000 unique readers. In the end I was probably spending about 10 hours a week answering e-mail related to it, so some opportunity cost there, but it was a hobby and people generally don't complain about time spent in such pursuits.

As you well know, the tests were very rudimentary and only sought to establish whether the basic composition and specs were what the vendors claimed they were. The unfortunate truth is that in 2005, this was impossible to ascertain in any other fashion. Things are somewhat better now, but it's still a pretty shaky industry in terms of value delivered and claims made.

If this really had been a nefarious plot, I would have continued the review site and set up a beard operation to sell product. My CLD Tiles would have been at the top of each ranking since the tests informed their development. Would have been a lot easier than the circuitous approach being suggested.
