mrray13, EXCELLENT post my man. Very good post and you covered some good things that I didn't. I've heard that about the top fuel cars and the like, that they are 1:1 at all times, but I didn't realize they were all clutches, even though I've heard it. It just seems like there has to be a ******, but it makes sense when the announcers talk about the crews having to change out all the clutches race after race.

164 in my 88 iroc at 5900 rpms(redline) 5th gear on the long island expressway took a little while but theres a few 10 mile dead straight stretches. might have pulled a little more but i was out of gears. by the way the motor was a 95 lt1 with lt4 hotcam slp exhaust all the way back and gasket matched intake/heads (ported milled polished heads) 431hp at the wheels

186 in my blazer..........44" super swampers, 4.11 gears, in 4wd low, god knows what it will do in 2wd hi, oh yeah that was in sand too..

BullS**t you just cant go 186 in a blazer with 44's and in 4 low? that s**t would self destruct, cause it has to be lifted to get 44's on it in the first place.

150 in a Lincoln Mark VIII. Mustang cobra motor had to work awhile and the ****** took three days to cool down, but that's what you get when you put a governor cancelling chip on a car with a four speed auto ******. Never tried it again.

All 93 and up Lincoln Mark Series have a motor basically similar to the 4.6 Cobra motors of that year. About 280 ponies. Really, the Mark VIII is the least respected car in the entire world, they were PIMP stock! Boomin' stereo, (not the Mach 1 but good for 5x7's) speed, technology, and for the time style. You can find them here and there for dirt cheap. They also have air ride, with a few mods you can transform it into a lowrider.

i hit about 95-100mph in my nova (not really sure because the speedometer only goes to 80 but i was racing a friend and he was going about 100-105 and he said he was bearly catching up, also my speedometer was at the l2 where you shit the gears) OLD CARS KICK ***

a guy that i race with has a ferrari 355 hardtop. we got 145 in like 4th. he has a 550 also, but he is scared of it, he doesnt drive it hard. anyway, in a E55 AMG with the factory governors reprogrammed, almost 175 on the road. at bonneville on the salt flats i watched greg breedlove clear the 740 mph mark in the spirit of america.
