fastest uve driven?

capone28: "A rustang does not have good handling tho, get over it."

See, this is the whole basis of my involvement in this thread. Seriously man, educate yourself, or if you have actually driven the car with an UNBIASED mind, then add in some useful content to this thread. I say unbiased because if you did get behind the wheel, the car would **** before you even pulled out of the parking spot in your eyes. Before this it was "But if ur saying camaros and rustangs get good MPG ur trippin" and you obviously have no backing to that arguement either as I've already proven.

I'm not asking alot man, just try to speak truth about things when you dont know what you're talking about. Where I come from, thats talking out of your ***, just like some kid spouting off about how his JL sub is so much better than anything ED or RE makes, when he hasn't even tried an ED or RE sub. That bring it closer to home on how you're sounding on this whole matter? Not trying to be rude with this last paragraph, just trying to let you in on what I'm seeing from my side of the monitor.

i do speak the truth. why do u think i said they handle like boats. I have driven a 00+v6 mustang and GT mustang. And ive been in one ofthe newer cobras, havent driven one tho. I have been in an rx8 and g35 as well. I have backing to the argument that camaros and rustangs get bad MPG because i have quite a few friends with these cars. Theyr filling up their tank all the friken time and all we do is driving around our area/school. what cars have u drove? Because i dont care what anyone tells me. A stock rustang/camaro/firebird does not handle good to me. Which would be comparing mainly to BMW's or AWD Japanese cars. I think thats something u can admit, as ive already admitted the LS1 is a sick engine.

and about that race between my two friends, driver problems or not, even if the camaro had an awesome driver the grand prix woould still at least keep up with it. Just proves that power ISNT eveything that all.

Finally got the edit through on the last post of page 10, go back and reread that, much shorter and to the point. Onward.....

When judging a cars handling by BMW standards, I do see where you are coming from. Its common knowledge that the chassis engineers at BMW has always outdone themselves. As for my reference to the comparison between the Cobra, RX8 and 350Z was that the Cobra beat out the other two on a road course. I have no doubt in my mind that on an autocross course the results would have been different, but an autocross course isn't like anything in real life, whereas a road course is just that, a course similar to actual roads. So in a real world environment, the Cobra is a superior track car over the other two, and the reason I brought that up was because the other two cars are considered good handling cars and are light in weight, yet the heavier, nose heavy V8 packing Cobra still won the challenge.

Secondly, there is no way, NONE that a mid 14 second car will keep up with a mid 13 second car under no circumstances unless the mid 13 second car's driver is only a mid 14 second driver. My friend has taken my car down the track and ran a 14.1, 0.8 slower than my best time that day. Driver skill plays a huge roll in even a straight line race in an automatic car, results in a manual would be even worse. I've raced alot of 14 second cars at the track when my car was one second quicker, and I've raced many mid 12 second cars as well, there is no "keeping up" when there is a one second deficit in a 1/4 mile or more race. One second and you're getting walked HARD.

And lastly, I dont care about MPG when I'm worried about making my car fast. If that were the case then I'd never mod my car (like I'll never mod the Neon). I have my ***** Am for going fast, and I dont care how often I fill up. Thats what the Neon is for, to save gas and insurance money. This isn't a thread about what the best all around car is, and this dicussion isn't either. It's about the fastest car. Interior quality, gas mileage, weight, power, all that stuff doesn't matter one bit. Now if you want to have a debate on which car is a better daily driver, I'll recommend just about ANYTHING over a Mustang/Camaro/Firebird. I just dont like them as daily drivers. I drove my TA for three years daily and hated it. They are fun cars but not exactly what I'd like for a daily ride. Thats where you and I are having a big disagreement I think. I'm talking about what this thread is, nothing but speed, not just top speed but acceleration and then a little bit of handling, whereas you're looking at it like which car is the best overall. We can have that debate if you want but it'll be a short one because chances are I'm going to be in agreement with you on that one.

my friend has a 2001 Cobra and i will say yes its fast and does handle well on the road, but when it comes to real road racing, like in other countrys were they close the roads, there are other V6's cars that will smoke those V8's in the straight and around the corners. Like a Skyline. That car was built to haul *** and handle on those roads.

Can't even compare an 01 Cobra to the 03. The new ones with the eaton supercharger and the new SVT tweaked suspension, try to get some seat time in one. Amazing cars. SVT really did the job right on that one. 01 is nothing more than a beefed up GT, 03 is nothing like a GT (IRS, supercharger, more suspension goodies, just tons better stuff).

I'd honestly like to see a race between an AWD NA Skyline and an 03 Cobra, I dont think there will be any smoking going on from the Skyline's part. The turbo Skylines are a different story, but stock for stock, the Cobra is still more powerful. The Skylines mod easy as heck though so it wouldn't take but a few bucks to get it hauling. Regardless, you're still making absolute comments about things that you dont know about man. You dont know what an 03 Cobra is capable of, nor do you know what a stock Skyline vs a modded Skyline is capable of (unless you've been overseas and have plenty of seattime in both), so saying that "there are other V6's cars that will smoke those V8's in the straight and around the corners. Like a Skyline" is irrelevant again. Keep it factual and speaking from personal experience. Thats all I'm doing. I've got experience with all F-Bodies, a little Mustang experience and I love the 03 Cobras, some Miata experience, and some import experience. Anything else I refer to is going to be apples to apples equal comparisons with solid numbers to back it up.

skyline is also all wheel drive meaning it will handle better
AWD doesn't mean ANYTHING will handle better. More than anything else, AWD is used as a means to get more traction from a launch in sports type cars, and to get added traction in off-road environments and poor weather conditions like rain and snow. In those situations it does excel in handling, but in dry weather, it has just as many cons as it does pros. Typically a RWD car with good weight distribution is a better car because they are typically lighter. AWD adds alot of drivetrain weight and it also sucks up more power through drivetrain loss. Its all in how the chassis engineers of that particular car tune the suspension. I'd put up a Miata or BMW against ANY of the revered AWD cars (WXR STi, Evo VIII, God's Chariot aka Skyline).

hmm...fastest ive ever been was 140 in a '97 mustang.....was a prom night and i was taking the date home....she was asleep and i was getting close to the time she had to be home..... scary but fun.... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
