I have no doubt in my mind that on an autocross course the results would have been different, but an autocross course isn't like anything in real life, whereas a road course is just that, a course similar to actual roads. Driver skill plays a huge roll in even a straight line race in an automatic car, results in a manual would be even worse. I've raced alot of 14 second cars at the track when my car was one second quicker, and I've raced many mid 12 second cars as well, there is no "keeping up" when there is a one second deficit in a 1/4 mile or more race. Thats what the Neon is for, to save gas and insurance money. This isn't a thread about what the best all around car is, and this dicussion isn't either. It's about the fastest car. Interior quality, gas mileage, weight, power, all that stuff doesn't matter one bit. Now if you want to have a debate on which car is a better daily driver, I'll recommend just about ANYTHING over a Mustang/Camaro/Firebird. I just dont like them as daily drivers. I drove my TA for three years daily and hated it. They are fun cars but not exactly what I'd like for a daily ride. Thats where you and I are having a big disagreement I think. I'm talking about what this thread is, nothing but speed, not just top speed but acceleration and then a little bit of handling, whereas you're looking at it like which car is the best overall. We can have that debate if you want but it'll be a short one because chances are I'm going to be in agreement with you on that one.

[QUOTE="josh99ta, post: 379372, member: 545886"] Finally got the edit through on the last post of page 10, go back and reread that, much shorter and to the point. Onward..... When judging a cars handling by BMW standards, I do see where you are coming from. Its common knowledge that the chassis engineers at BMW has always outdone themselves. As for my reference to the comparison between the Cobra, RX8 and 350Z was that the Cobra beat out the other two on a road course. I have no doubt in my mind that on an autocross course the results would have been different, but an autocross course isn't like anything in real life, whereas a road course is just that, a course similar to actual roads. So in a real world environment, the Cobra is a superior track car over the other two, and the reason I brought that up was because the other two cars are considered good handling cars and are light in weight, yet the heavier, nose heavy V8 packing Cobra still won the challenge. Secondly, there is no way, NONE that a mid 14 second car will keep up with a mid 13 second car under no circumstances unless the mid 13 second car's driver is only a mid 14 second driver. My friend has taken my car down the track and ran a 14.1, 0.8 slower than my best time that day. Driver skill plays a huge roll in even a straight line race in an automatic car, results in a manual would be even worse.
