The reason I don't pay taxes is everything is in cash.
My family owns a heating and air business, and we gross around 500k a year.

I can go out and do service calls, when they ask who to make the check out to I usually just say my name or the businesses name, and get my parents to just give me cash when I give them the checks.

I get 65 dollars for a service call...JUST for going to the house, wheter I do anything or not if I have to get the toolbag out and touch your unit its 65 dollars.

We have a decent markup on parts and also get 50 dollars per hour labor if it takes longer then an hour.

I can do average around 10 service calls per day and work basically when I want.

I do have a couple of degrees, business administration (Which is basically a joke) and computer programming. Neither of which paid anywhere near the heating and air industry.

Right now we have 10 units to change out, at 7k a piece (profit is about 3.5k per unit) and we will be able to get done with all 10 in around 10 days + service calls after we get done with those change outs.

Its physical labor but its not horrible.

And the 100k is revenue, still probobly 30k or so profits

My parents might be paying taxes on part of it. I guess they would be paying it on the checks that are wrote to the business.

Also i'm only 23, my parents still claim me on taxes.

And getting paid cash sucks because I don't have any proof of income so when I get ready to buy something...like a car or a house I have to have a HUGE down payment in order to make it wortwhile for the lending company

I'm not on you for smoking man, i used to do it pretty regular. But I'm not in a situation where it could effect the rest of my life

all major companies do random drug tests huh? i guess spirit aerosystems and boeing aren't major companies? not to mention cessna, hawker, bombadier learjet....

i just love how basically the only people who fail drug tests and get fired from their jobs are occasional pot smokers and great workers, rather than the fools who shoot speed, smoke crack, slam heroin, and trip acid.

and any decent paying job is going to have random sporadic drug test.
and when you fail the drug test, and you get fired and you put that job on your resume...and they contact the old employer and they tell them you failed a drug test...you = ****ed

it's actually illegal in a bunch of states for prior employers to disclose why you stopped working there. MN is one. It's cause for a gigantic law suit cuz technically they prevented you from getting that job.

Ha ha, is that necessary? The fact that some guy with nothing better to do than go around telling their "friends" at the IRS to go look at some websites at a completely meaningless forum to most and audit someone is hilarious...

Chances are, if he is still a dependent on his parents claim, and his parents company brings in 500k of business a year, they are legit. Doesn't sound like stupidity. It just sounds like he is still livin' under mom's wing and he doesn't have think outside of what they do for him.

I can say this cause i pay all my taxes, and I don't smoke pot, I'm neutral.

FYI - More bad than good can come from smoking pot, or doing illegal drugs. Just don't, you don't need it, it's not necessary.

Very much so. Fortunatly I can pretty much start my training anytime I want. I think I'll put it off for about 4 weeks...
