Fader Issues?

After hooking up an amp and cd player in my car, i tested it out and noticed it sounded like a set of tweeters playing in a coffee can. When I fade to just any one speaker, that speaker sounds fine but the other side speaker is still playing but not as loud.

From the amp, I ran a 9 conductor cable that is wired and I have checke those connections 3 times and everything is wired correctly there.

Anyone have any ideas? The equipment had been working just fine in my last car up until it was taken out last Friday.

It doesn't go to the headunit, it goes to the factory harness that sends it over the factory wiring. It keeps you from running seperate speaker wires to your doors and deck.

I disconnected the 9 cable and took a 4x6 speaker and tested each channel of the amp right at the amp and got the same results. So I am guessing it is the head unit? Since I am fading the headunit all the way to the front left speaker but am getting some sound out of the right front and vice versa.
