Can you run only one voice coil on a daul voice coil subwoofer?

If so what would be the difference between just running one 4 ohm coil on a daul 4 ohm woofer and running one coil on a single 4 ohm woofer?

No...both need to be wired to function correctly...

Actually you can run only one, not with the same TS params but you can infact only run one vc and have a functioning woofer.

Parameters will change between wiring configurations. Most are rated with coils in series. They'll also change once loaded into an enclosure, powered, and aged. It can be safely done, and there is a technical write-up from Adire about this.

Not, not if it doesn't get past the thermal limits. Powerhandling will be cut in half theoretically.

It should not damage the woofer...just changes the T/S as Nooblet said. Though, if I am not mistaken, it will cut the RMS power in half.

The crack head ebayer i bought my two rtypes from couldn't tell the difference between a daul and a single voice coil unit.

I also have a pair of 10" Bazooka bass tubes with the same difference.

Trying to figure out what to do with them.

It will change a lot mor than just power handling.

As long as you didn't run the subs in the same air space why couldn't you run them in the same system?
