external HD

ive been thinkin of buying an external HD for my vids,mp3s,pics. how do they work when playing files say mp3's. do i have my mp3s on there then just load it to my itunes library like usual and it plays wit out a delay or how? i'm not up on computers too much

this is the one im thinkin of gettin would like to spend less then $100

word of advice. if you are smart, you wont buy from bestbuy.

When you plug it in to the computer, a lot of them are via usb nowadays, it should recognize in 'My Computer' as another HD. You can go into it and open the folders with music just like you would if was the hd in the computer. Ipods work the exact same way. When you plug it in, you can actually use it as a hd to store stuff. It pops in 'My Computer', is store stuff on it all the time.

i just got a toshiba 250gb from best buy for 99 bucks and I got it today

btw best buy has the same hardrive as in the first link for the same price and agian you get it today

i bought the hd to replace my ipod

my hu reads harddrives up to 250gb so it works out

and while im at work I can plug in the HD

worked out great

I currently have all my music stored on an external drive due to the fact that my laptop only has an 80 gig drive. The files will play fine and seamlessly. You will have to go to the preferences in itunes and go to advanced, uncheck the box that says copy music to itunes music file when adding to library. You will have to rip cd's to your external drive, and import them from there. They will not be copied to the internal hard drive that way but will still be playable straight from the external.

My first external was a WD Mybook. It was awful, and didn't function well at all with my mac. I returned it for a seagate and have yet to be unimpressed.
