exploring a possibility or lack of...

so i already have a 4channel but i was just wondering something.

In SQ setups, almost everyone says a rear fill is pointless, just build a great front stage.

So, I have a old alpine 2 channel mono sub amp layin around...in regaurds to what makes an amp good, i think it beats the heck out of my boss 4x...

If i were to run the alpine as my front stage amp, would it work, by simply turning off the bass equalizer switch on the amp and using the lp filter turned all the way up? i guess this would only get me to about 200hz so i wouldn't get any highs, but would it work?

just somethin' to toy with in my head...

what do you think?

you have a 2 channel mono sub amp? so is it a 2 channel or a mono amp? it might work for midbass depending on what your running for highs. as for the rear fill it's a matter of taste. for SQ at comps ya it's all about the front stage they could care less abour rear fill. but there are those who still want a lil rear fill. just to get the "full surround" sound.

I'm a fan of rear fill personally, I will never compete but my aim is quality not for everyone to hear me coming down the street.

Well it has 2 channels, but above each channel it says mono.

I imagine that it sends the same signal to both channels, but at the same time the rca inputs on it say L and R...

I still don't understand how that works.

Alpine says it is "monaural"

I know this is a newb lack of understand, but I still havn't learned how a monoblock amp works and the way it has two channels on it...but i will learn.

endofdays, i like how you added the type of camera you used and all that in your sig after that guy said you stole his picture..haha.

Edit: I also like how you have a retarded quote in your sig that basically matches my lack ofunderstanding.

But like i said, I am learning.

okay i just learned. yea it's a mono amp with two speaker terminals. so it woldn't work for front stage setups cause you wouldn't be getting the stereo signal, and the reason i have a L and R input is because the amp combines them into a mono signal, cause stereo signals for low bass is semi pointless...

anyway, that was a fun idea to toy w/...

i'm learning too. I just got into car audio like 1 year ago. So i'm not all that smart about it either.
what is the model number on the alpine, so i can see if it is a mono or 2 channel
alpine mrv-100m

the pdf is here - http://vault.alpine-usa.com/products/documents/OM_MRV-100M.PDF

I know I said I had it figured out, but hey correct me if i am wrong..i would like to be cause i would like tosee what it wouldbe like using it for a midbass amp..

I am guessing it's a pr100.2 http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=product.display&Product_ID=2430 ?

Man, I wold jump all over it if it were made for speakers not subs and if it were 4 channel...

I would like to get somethin' to replace my crappy boss one. but it's not at the top of the list of things to do right now...

yea i have the memphis pr300.2 sub amp, it's awesome, i love their stuff...

yea it's running my subs...

if you could get a model number it would help...

but yeah, since i do like rear fill, i kind of want a 4 channel but humor me, and mabye.

i got 3 eclipse 2 channel amps that will match that deck you have if ur lookin lol
lol, model numbers?

i can see myself gettin' closer and closer to bumping "adding a new amp" up the list of things to do, the more i talk to you guys...i'll never get my box built or my rewire done at this rate...

got a xa2000 and 2 Ea2000 and i also got 2 xa1000 monos
best way to rewire is buy enough speaker wire to run each speaker it's own wire to the trunk.
I'm lookin' up those specs, see what i might like....

as far as the other stuff on my list goes....

1. build new custom boxes for my 12'' memphis subs in my back seat and amp rack in the trunk (right now i have 2 10'' kickers in a prefab)

2. buy 4awg and rewire both amps to trunk

3. move 4channel to the trunk (it's under passenger seat)

4. rewire front stage speakers (right now im spliced into the factory wiring from the amp)

5. either add a rear fill set of 5.25 (probably some rf punch's i have layin' around) or remove wiring

6. re-route all my wiring at the moment i am running it all together and it's not veryclean

7. a. explore new found possibilities in a new front stage amp that you all are offering me.

b. look into new front stage comps, right now i have polk coaxial 2ways.

will the Ea2000 run my 2 way coaxial polks? that is the perfect rms rating for them, hm...but leaves no room for item number 7-b on my list...

how much would you sell it for and maybe it's worth it...

it says up to 500hz crossover, does that mean it wont put out a signal higher than that? meaning my tweeters in the polks would get nothing?
