anyone know the size of speakers in an 00 explorer 5.0 they seam pretty small and i believe the back door speakers are the same as the fronts just put in sideways or something. but one thing I noticed with the door panels off is that the mounting depth seams small. I dont know what speaker would fit because it would need to be a super shallow speaker

Did you have a premium sound system from the factory? Are the speakers round or oval?

I am yet to run in to a ford (built after 95) that did not have 5x7 (AKA 6x8) speakers. I have, or have owned 7 ford trucks/vans ranging from 95 to 2006 and they were all the same. I am 99% sure this is the case in you car also.

perfect. thanks guys. speakers are oval fyi and it is not the premium system. how is 5x7 the same as 6x8? and will any speakers fit because i have seeen some beefy speakers that seam like they would have to much depth to fit, or should i just measure the depth of the door speakers to be sure?

measure, and buy accordingly/budget wise,unless youd like to modify/use external pods,maybe an option as well
