im looking for some subs that gonna sound lound and clear.... i have a bandpass for 10's so thats what i want. tell me what u thinkis the best... and what ur selling wit a shipped price

a sealed naturally sounds better, they are easier to make/get, and its pretty hard to go wrong with them. stick with sealed.

it all has to do with frequency response...bandpass boxes just have a bad design for pre-fabrication. to build the right bandpass box requires a LOT of experience and the PERFECT design to get it just right...and even then it is really hard to do it right. bandpasses just are bad boxes in general.

ported boxes are the 2nd hardest boxes to build, but not all that hard.

sealed is probably what you want to go with: its really hard to go wrong with a sealed box. easy to make, and most subs will do well in sealed enclosures.

bandpass boxes are not sealed: they put tension on both the front and back of the cone...and they also have ports.....its not even close to sealed.

the point of bandpass boxes are to look cool and trick people (like you) into buying them. they are pretty much pointless IMO.

maybe I can help a little here.....a bandpass is a great box to use if you want your subs to last short time....they wont hold up with the pressure on the front and back....for one the tensel leads for the voice coils will come off or burn up....

second a sealed box gives you better sound quality...

third a ported box is for most spl people like myself and spl means basically bass...

and bandpass is a sealed and ported box together....

your best bet would be to make more money and get somthing of quality that will last...no need to buy somthing cause its cheap and not last long then have to pay more money to replace it...if you look at it if you put the money you would have spent to replace it and the money you spent to buy it in the first place it will equal to somthing much better....

example you buy a jensen sub in a bandbass at walmart and it blows so you buy another sub to go back into the box....in the first place you could have had an alpine type-s in a sealed box...

Your going to laugh but my younger brother has a 1200w legacy amp, two dhd 10's in a bandpas box in a 93 honda civic and his system pounds. He's had it for three years or so. His first system.
