Equalizers?

I've never really thought about getting one.. I know they can adjust the bass level etc etc. Would it be a good idea to get one for 2 Alpine Type R subs? (Powered at the full 300rms W each) Will I notice a difference? Is it worth my $?..

Well if you're just getting one for your bass levels, why not use your head unit? Amps also have bass boost alot of the time. That's all an EQ is going to do for you, boost or cut certain frequencies.

Equalizers are generally for people to fix funky in car frequency responses. I.E. You have a freakish cabin gain boost at 5000 hz, an equalizer would allow you to cut said frequency and allow you to hear the music exactly as it was recorded. If that doesn't really matter to you I wouldn't really worry about it.

Equalizers are for people that really know what they are doing. I ended up taking mine out because it was causing problems and everytime I cahnged something in my system I had to retune all kinds of stuff. Unless you can RTA at home don't waste your time or money with it.

an eq will most likely have a bass frequency adjustment and a sub vol control, but they are mainly used for tuning your highs, not for your low end.
I beg to differ. Although they are used the majority of the time to tune highs, I have a DEQ-230 for just my subs. I know most people will think its overkill, but the tunability of the DEQ-230 is astounding.

Like someone posted earlier, eq's are not for the beginner. It takes a lot of time to tune your system if you don't have a spectrum analyzer(RTA meter).

If you end up getting an EQ, remember that its easier to lower peaks than to increase valley's.

mainly used, i believe is the phrasing i used. so back up and think about the general statement i made. you my friend have more of a special setup which is not really essential to your setup.

Hey bro, I wasn't dissin you. I was just letting him know that eq's can greatly improve bass response. Yeah, my situation is somewhat special. I have quite a bit of processing configured in a non common format.

they work but they are not a EQ, you need to be careful with them you can toss your sub if you not careful with an Epicenter on the amplifer
Even if the subs are not at the full RMS wattage?
