Equalizer prices

Why are some brands so cheap and others expensive? I see Boss, Pyramid, Lanzar, Legacy 7- to 10-band graphic equalizers for $35-$40 and others like Phoenix Gold, Kenwood, Kicker 4- and 5-band graphic for minimum $100. They can't all be manufactured differently. They all have the same basic electronic design. I mean you can't improve on gain, input, frequency and crossover controls that much. I went to school for engineering so I know this. Some made here and some overseas?

Sound quality, build quality/reliability, product support after the sale, blah blah blah...

I went to school for engineering so I know this.

Then you know what happens when you make sacrifices in the name of building to a price vs. going all-out and charging more.
