Epicenter= serious porblems?

I just installed my epicenter and it seems pretty cool and all. I have my gains set right on my amp and all, but the epicenter seems to distort when turned to much sometimes. I am not cranking the knob up either, just some songs I used with it have a part unexpected that seems to clip. Could this cause some serious problems to my voice coils? I almost afraid to keep the epicenter.

No experience with the epicenter, but Id say you need to reset your gains with the epicenter in the max position you would ever have it.

Also, what do you mean by "seems to clip"?

For once in my life, I'm agreeing with SBLAZER

Your gains are not set properly if you did not set them with the epicenter on "max".

And yes, that distortion (which is likely due to your amplifier clipping) can damage your subwoofers.

I have always used the epicenter, but i never use it for rap or songs that have oto much bass or they will distort, i use it mainly for songs that dont seem to have bass, and with the epicenter they are awesome, u just have to be careful when to punch the knob all the way.

Truth.

I took my epicenter out with my latest set of upgrades. All the music i listen to has overpowering bass anyway...lol

You are adding a bunch of stuff that doesn't really need to be there unfortunately. Most new music has the low end left in from what I gather, so the epicenter is acting like more of a bass boost than anything else. More boost = more power = resetting the gains.

Setting the gains with the thing boosted all the way might be a bad idea since you should probably never listen to it that way and it will probably sound bad (crank all your low end instead with a bass level controller for example).

Yeah, I just unhooked it the other day until I get around to re-setting my gains. Wasn't sure if they needed to be re-set with the epic or not. Thanks for the heads up. Sblazer, I agree with what your saying, but at least I took the time to un-hook it and get help before something does **** up.
