right now im running an AQ1200D on my stock 136 amp alt, big 3 done in 1/0 and a kinetic HC2000 under the hood. my headlights dim a TINY bit, but only on really quick notes, other then that my voltage stays at 14. but come income tax time im rebuilding my substage, which means adding more power(yay!)

im either gonna be buying an AQ2200D or another 1200D and run it slaved with my current one, either way it will be roughly the same ammount of current draw.

I have no room to add a second battery, so sticking with one HC2000 under the hood is the best i can do, but do you guys see any problems running either of those setups with a DC power 180 amp alt? i really cant afford to drop 600 bucks for there 270 amp alt, and DC power is the only company that makes an alt for my 02 dodge dakota 3.9L.

you should be ok with that, but you will likely still have some dimming, this is very common with single batt high current drawl systems. since the lights and the amp are on at the same source, there is no buffer between the 2.

nice catch lol
haha yeah nice catch on the title, i didnt even notice, oh well! i was thinking about getting the HID light kit for my truck, which would stop the dimming because from what ive been told HID headlights dont dim. I could squeeze a hc600 in the back, but it would be tight, and in the end it would probably be better and cost the same amount to just get the bigger alternator to begin with.

so my options are to either get the 270 amp alt, or the 180 and get a hc600 in the back.
