my xtant a4004 developed a whine in the past week. the grounds look fine. i redid the head unit ground. the interconnects and power are ran on oppisite sides. checked all grounds on amp. i even bought an isolator. still have the whine. could this be an internal problem inside the amp?

rca's? alt. going bad? gains being to high will pick up noise like a mofo...
i suppose it could be the rca's. it worked fine up til recent with the ones i have. i have the gains under half. alternator puts out 14.4, so it seems alright. i don't think it's the rca's, although i hope so actually.

could have gotten pinched or somethin... never know //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
just put in new rca's. same shit. i can't figure this out.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/mad.gif.c18f003ab0ef8a0d9c27ca78d77a6392.gif

so then its nothin to do with inputs. has to be a ground or something along the line of powering it.
my distro. got kinda stomped. i fixed it and replaced the fuses, but maybe i'll get a new one. i need it anyway. i've never liked this distro. anyway. i've checked everything else. the only thing left is the distribution block as far as power.

you said you check the grounds on the amp right?

is the ampitself grounded? meaning you hae it screwed dwon into metal, right? try to put a plastic inster into the mounting holes to isolate the amp fromt he screw so the amp/heatsink is no longer grounded

the amp is mounted on the back wall. so yes, it is screwed into metal. that is the damaged distro. as well.
