Hello,
Here are the symptoms of my problem. If i turn the ignition to ACC the unit starts as normal but i get alot of excess noise out of the tweeters. If i unplug the RCA connectors at the back of the hu, the noise disappears. If i was to turn the engine on, i get a loud alternator whine through all speakers and i can hear about every electric motor in the car over the speakers.
Here is what i have done to remedy the problem. First off I have a 90 Corvette that is mostly fiberglass, so i ran a 4 gauge ground wire straight from the amps to the battery. I ran a 14 GA solid wire from the hu to the battery, I grounded the shielding of the RCA's to the same wire as well as the deck chassis. I tried putting filter caps on the battery and acc connections- Made noise worse. Tried running a 14 ga ground and power wires straight from my amps to the hu- no change. I took 4 ga jumper cables and tried clamping them from the battery ground to the frame and engine block- no change Changed amplifier out- same noise. Tried a different Deck- noise gone. If you have any suggestions to hepl me track this down it would be much appreciated. I am running a Rockford Punch 600a4, Punch 1000a2, Rockford 10 Farad Hybrid cap, 2 10" Cerwin Vega V-MAX Subs, Pioneer TS-C720PRS's and TS-C520PRS's, Stock alternator, and an Optima Red Top.
Thanks
P.S. Just tried tearing the car apart and replanning RCA cable runs. Went down and bought Monster Cable RCA's and here's what i have now. If i set the cables outside the car and connect to the amp input I get some noise. If i disconnect i get very very little noise (acceptable amount). If i lay those cables through the car and connect to the hu... I start to get more noise even before the connector connects to the pre-amp out of my deck, like within an inch or two. Then i get alot of noise with the RCA connected. What am i missing here?! I took my brand new deck apart and fixed the blown fuse to no avail. Is there more to this Pioneer noise thing than just the RCA ground?
