Engine Noise

im getting a decent amount of electrostatic interference in my 98 jetta. my rcas are away from my main power feeds so there shouldnt be any noise but its still there. are there any in line filters i could place in my speaker lines or in my rcas that would eliminate the interference? i was thinking of something that i could run in the line right next to each speaker to block out the noise. any ideas?

is your ground wire bolted on a bare metal surface? if not that could be why, also check to make sure your ground is good and tight, that is the only thing that comes to my mind right now, use the search function, there are tons of threads that pertain to this subject

my ground was ground down to the metal before i installed the wire, stinger custom pro 0 guage, and its bolted on tighter than it needs to be. im still going to need a filter for at least 1 of my speakers thats catching interference because the farthest place away i could put the speaker cable was too close to the power line and vice versa. ill look around, thanks.

connected a 16 guage wire to each of my RCA's, then attached that wire to the chassis of the Head unit
so u would take the wire, wrap it around all the metal shields of all the rca's connected behind the deck, then just connect the other end to a head unit screw?? for EACH pair of rca's, do you ground ONLY one or BOTH of the rca's ???

how did you connect the wire to the rcas? im using fosgate twister 5.0 rcas that have a built in line running between the two channels - can i use that? tie it in to my headunit or ground it by my amp? im just not sure how to connect a wire to the rca properly.

That wire on the RCA's has two uses, you can use it as a remote on or you can screw it anywhere on the chassis of the HU and then anywhere on the amp shassis this is to further reduce the possibilty of ground loops. Its worth a try.

well, could you just ground the rca's on the AMP side and just run the 16 guage wire to the amp grounds instead of grounding the rca's at the head unit??? or does the grounding MUST take place at the head unit?
