okay today i was driving and i opened my door for about 2 seconds to shut it again becase it didnt close all of the way and now i can hear engine noise threw the speakers ....and i can hear when i put a cd in my eclipse head unit. what do u all think could be the problem...could it be a loose wire or something. thanxs alot

I had engine noise and fixed mine by re doing all my ground wires. if you are having this trouble without an amplifier, then I am not sure of the problem. When I had the problem only the speakers hooked to my amplifier made the noise. If this goes on for a while the noise will get less and less audible the more your alternator catches up. Mine was really bad when I just started the car but when I got a couple miles down the road, it was on reconizable if I turned the volume to zero.

Tell us more about the setup. How many amps? What are they powering (subs, speakers, etc)? Can you only hear the noise through your speakers, not your sub(s)? Does the noise change pitch with acceleration? Can you hear it through all the speakers? etc etc

try cleaning the area on and around where your ground wire is at. you could also try sanding down the area to get a better grounding spot and see if that helps.

i have 3 amps.......2 for my diamond 12's and i cant hear the noise in them and a memphis amp for my speakers up front.... i can only hear the noise in the front speakers and when i turn off my cd player it goes away. and it just started when i opend my door yesterday. yes it changes with the acceleration of the car. and it just started the other day. and the amp has been installed for a couple of weeks.

since you say it happened when you closed your door, its possible that a wire got spliced and is touching the bare metal of the car, which would be a direct cause of alternator noise. Check that before you do anything else

What it sounds like to me.

Either that or one of the grounds were poor, and closing the door hard was enough of a jolt to wiggle it loose.
