Engine noise - new amp install

I just finished installing my new Sundown SAX-50.4 and I'm getting a lot of RPM dependent engine whine. To trouble shoot the problem I disconnected one-by-one the rca cables. After trying a few different configurations, the only one that produced the noise is when all four channels are connected. If I plug in just the fronts - no noise, just the rear - no noise, just the fronts onto the rears - no noise and just the rear into the front - no noise. If I plug in just the front channels and then connect the output of the amp into the rear channels, I can get all four speakers working but loose the fading from the head unit. Simple installation: 1997 Saab 9000, cheap DUAL head unit, amp and front dash 4" and rear deck 6X9's. Thanks for any advise...
