Why can't we have fun while learning? Its easy enough to find quality information here. I see no reason for this site to be the end all car audio dictionary. I come here for laughs and knowledge. The crux of the problem is two-fold. One, what one person finds to be innocent fun, another finds to be inappropriate. This is where the mod's have to make the unfortunate judgment calls. And two, while Ive all along expressed my desire to keep the t-dome as rule free as possible as a place for members to blow off steam, either positively or negatively, it also much be considered that even the t-dome does reflect on the over all view of ca.com. Im not saying I want to remove the t-dome (its been suggested), but to suggest the t-dome should be moderation-free is definitely not a realistic possibility.

We DO want to have ca.com fun while also informational, but that is a very fine line to walk. Hopefully most members understand that. No mods here want to exert any sort of authority, Im confident every mod we have these days is not on that sort of power trip, but instead is simply trying their best to improve the site for the majority. Remember guys, you cant please everyone all the time, the best you can do is try to please most people most of the time. There is a give and take between the mods and the members here, its not a one-way street.

All you guys talkin about "Ill be a mod" obviously have no idea the amount of work involved or at least most of you dont. I have moderated 3 different forums over the years and they were roughly as active as this one if not a little more. I can say first hand that if you want to make sure every rule is followed and that everyone is respectful you will be busy 24/7. You will never stop reading through posts, handing out infractions or bans etc. Also, while most of you complain about the trolls you know very well if you think about it that without some of them the site would be boring as hell. Im not saying they should be able to post their bs everywhere but that is what the dome is for.

Also, some of you complain that all mods should be car audio experts or have an extensive background. They are here to MODERATE the forum and make sure rules are followed. Not be caraudio.com's knowledge base. Want the info?. Use the search function. This forum is still alot of fun to be on. Ive noticed alot of good members have been banned over the years though due to mods letting things get personal and because of that they got mad and abused their power.

Anyway, the point im trying to make is you may think that being a moderator is easy but really its more annoying than anything. Also its quite hard to get work done when you have 20+ pm's an hour from people complaining and believe me im being conservative with this number. Another thing is people will always complaining about the mods. Either they are too strict or too lax. Theres always going to be a few people thinking they do nothing. You cant please everyone and mods arent perfect. They get angry just like everyone else. They make mistakes just like everyone else.

Stop complaining when they make a mistake, you would make plenty if you were in their position.

As for snoopdan, I am glad you were never accepted as mod. It would have been a mistake. It is obvious your holding a grudge about this and you cant let it go. You constantly bring it up every chance you get when someone complains about the mods. You need to just be an adult and forget about it. You just arent a proper fit for the position.

The mods didn't talk Goob into anything with Bob, Goob made that choice himself. And since you bring it up, when Bob was removed, Dan was considered as his replacement. But by then, Dan had made such a spectacle of himself about not being named one sooner, we all realized we dodged a bullet in not appointing him. So ironically, if Dan hadn't become so childish about it, he'd have his modship by now. But as it stands, that clearly will never happen.

I understand where you're coming from with most of what you said..and I agree. I actually think the way thingss are moderated now are fine. Most of us know where/when we are crossing the line. Most of the ones that do cross the line are doing so intentionally to draw attention for what ever reason. All in all, ca.com is pretty laid back in terms of moderation compared to the other audio sites.
