enclsoure for orion h2

I looked up the specs for a ported 1500w ported enclosure, and for a square port it says 4.43x4.43. If I wanted to make the port in a different shape like a rectangle, would I just subtract from one side and add to the other??? ALso, when it just says the port to be x long, x widh, and x height, is this a port just go straight back with no turns, I am pretty sure it is but if somone could second that it would help. ALso, whats the recomended distance to keep the end of the port from the inside wall??
