Ok, i'm having some trouble with the box calculator. It says to make the port 1.75" wide, but even at 2" the air barely makes it out, and i know the sub should be louder and go way lower....I need some help. By the way, the sub is a

Powerbass PR-12d and here are some specs:

FS-36.39hz

Qms-.53

Vas-35.68 liters

Qes-.37

Re-3.81(dual 4 ohm coils)

Xmax-18mm

And PB recommends ported enclosure from 1.5-2.0 cubes.....

I really want the right box for the sub, as the last 3 i built haven't been quite right and it still sounds decent...Can't wait to hear how the right one sounds....Anyone?

Sorry, guess it is a bit vauge...

Sub is acting like its in a sealed box, the port is barely moving any air......Looking to figure out if i need:

Larger port width

Longer port

Shorter port hight?

Anything that will make this work the way its supposed to. It gets reasonably loud, but doesn't really drop very low....Looking for 30-32hx range tuning.

thay say porting low will give you the lows like say 32hz but from my experience sealed will alwayes give better lowes then ported but yes ported does get loud but if you're looking for that nice low lowes then sealed is the way to go.

Joe, thats not really accurate, i know what you're trying to say. sealed will roll off naturally and pick up really mow bass, but 99% of music doesn't have program material under 30hz, and if you tune a ported box to say 30hz, in a vehicle you'll with transfer function, it will feel like 27ish, and thats all i'm looking for.......

you say you wanted it to drop low so thats why i sayed sealed.I to have had 3 ported boxs and well sealed just gave me the bass i was looking for but what typ of ported box do you have and box measurements and port too..... . //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

You could try to make the port longer, but there might be other reasons with the box won't extend lower, or even the sub. You'd have to reverse...
