I built a box without doing alot of research, somewhat new to audio just getting back into after years.... Never knew a whole lot though.

Current box i just build is for a 1996 extended cab silverado firing up port side 30hz 4 cubes.

Well it get loud but not what i know the potential is.

So im asking for some help this time, gonna build with 3/4 mdf. Any suggestions/input would be greatly appreciated.

Vehicle : 1996 chevy silverado extended cab

Location in the vehicle: backseat with seat out

Space available (Length x Width x Height): 4ft 8in x 18in x 23in

Subwoofer make and model: kicker l7 solo

Subwoofer Size: 12

Number of Subwoofers: 2

Type of Port (Kerfed, Slot, Aero, etc.): slot

What type of music do you like?: rap hip hop

Is your goal SPL or Everyday Music?: spl

Tuning Freq (Hz): suggestions? whats good on l7s?

Volume : suggestions? what shoulds good on l7s?

Amplifier : soundqubed1200.2 gonna upgrade to rp 2000 soon or rockford t1500

Questions: How big should i make the box? what should i tune it to aka what do l7s like? how should port fire? looking to hit the lows and get loud... thanks guys

BOX i just made that i dont think is that great 4 cubes 30hz

A sub can be tuned anywhere... but that doesnt mean it is optimal. Tuning below low 30s is going to cost you alot of peak output for a marginal gain in low end. L7s can get loud, and usually a peaky type of loud. Linear l7 setups are basically non existant.

I did a box for my bro-n- law that was 2.75cu at 30hz. Low end ****** despite low tuning and it was a huge loss in output compared to his other box at 36hz. We never got the kicker sounding satisfactory to him so we swapped to a w7. Same car, same amp and the JL easily played about 10hz lower, and was honestly just as loud.
