Has anyone out here really used these things? I know that they are suppose to be w7 killers but is that really the case? Have any of you guys used both? For the price, if they do stand up to w7s then they are the ish

Hmmm... Well... I should be the last to comment, but the W7 does have a fair bit of engineering behind it. It would be difficult to achieve what they have done with it, monetarily speaking of course. Not to mention the patents they applied as well...

I hear all of that, but does that mean that there aren't subs out here that are comparable to the W7? I think not. I've had four different W7s over the past 6 years and they are great subs, but they are by no means the holy grail of subs. They may have more patents and so on , but there has to be something other than the usual RE XXX or MT comparison when it comes to the dub. I miss the look of my JLs but thats about it.

Cool. So does that mean that since the SPL-12 matches the MT in output and is (arguably) better sounding than the MT, does that make it better than the W7?

Better is subjective to what you're looking for. I want a sub that has the ability to get as loud or louder than the dub but will sound a bit better for a better price. My TREO SSI 15 sounds better to me and gets louder than the 13W7 I had on the same power but I was really trying to get a smaller sub so thats how this whole thread came about. I've never heard an MT but from reading and hearing others opinions I'm under the impression that for output it will destroy the W7, sound quality is a whole different ball game

Well, eD tried to apply patented W7 technology to their sub, got caught, and was legally made to remove the tech from the subwoofer. You'd think a 'W7 killer' wouldn't need stolen technology off the very sub its supposedly superior to.

I dont care if it was a W7 killer, which its not. I still wouldn't buy that crap from those bums. Id rather purchase products from people who know how to design their own shit, not from scum bags who can only steal technology from their (superior) competitors.

I think you solved your own problem. If you find your Treo to be superior in every way to a W7, just get a smaller Treo.

the w7 better sounds like shit to me for the money

i have a 13av2 sounds great off 1000 watts they say it will take more and get a good bit louder but i think i have it at its limit now.

try 2 w6

they sound better and 2 should gethe volume up to you par

A smaller treo may not give me the output I'm after. I didn't know all of that info on the company so thank you for that info. A twelve in treo wouldn't be on par with a 13w7, I don't think, so thats not an option. Thanks guys for all of your insite. mrogowski, don't think that I was upset with you I just get hype at times, its all love.

Other than the W6s what would you guys recommend to compete with the 13W7?

its a good all around SQ sub, some may say its a W7 in terms of performance and price, some just dont like ED.

but i heard nothing but good reviews on it, gets extremely low, and sounds awesome doing so. also they had a Nine.1 + 13Av.2 sale, $450 shipped for both which is a steal. JL is overpriced, good, but i would not buy shit from them.
