Elemental designs 13av.2 vs Rockford 15" T2 sub

I currently have 2 11ov.2's in their ed built sealed enclosure running off the sub channel on my Rockford Power 1000 5 channel. They are getting about 930 watts at 1 ohm. I am looking to upgrade now and I want to go ported this time around. I am debating whether to get a 15" Rockford fosgate T2 sub which would go in the recommended ported box or a Ed 13av.2 in its recommended box. I was hoping someone could help me decipher the pros and cons of each setup. I am not looking for anyone to bash either company, I was just hoping for some honest help. Thanks to everyone in advance. This setup is in a 2009 Volkswagen Jetta GLI if that matters.

it depends on what kind of setup you are looking for. the 13av.2 is def. a SQ sub. you can port it, but you would want to tune it low. the T2 is a nice sub, and gets loud, but its only worth it if you're getting a good deal on it. not worth the price that sites charge for it. my vote is for the T2 if you can get a good price on it.

I would be getting the 15" T2 on ebay brand new so it would obviously be less than authorized. In fact, I would be getting the 15" T2 plus a very high quality enclosure built specifically for the 15" t2 at a combined price which is about 80 bucks less than the 13av.2 plus the ed built vented box. If the 13av.2 gets almost as loud but with better SQ, I would go for it even though its slightly more dough. What do you think?

link to said sub and box combo? my guess is that it is a prefab box, which is a no no. the 13av.2 will get decently loud, but I say go for the T2 bc its more cone area and will get louder. whichever sub you get, build your own box. eD will **** you on their box building prices and the box on ebay is probably a prefab.

This is the box. It is pre fabricated but I have seen the boxes from this seller and they are super high quality. They are raping me on the price too but I dont have the time or skills to build a box.

does the sub have to be a T2. that's mad pricey, and you can def get better for the price (if not less.) how many watts do you have to work with/what amp are you using.

Firstly, you are forgetting the 8% microsoft live cashback on all ebay buy it now. So thats 8% off both the sub and box. That is why it turns out much cheaper than the ed 13av.2 plus their box. I have 930 watts at 1 ohm and the largest sized box I would like is something in the range of ed's prefab vented enclosure that they use for the 13av.2 or that box I linked you to. One is 27" wide and the t2 box is like 29. Thanks so much in advance.

I personally think that these subs will do better than the T2 and they are cheaper. I think the IXL may suit you best. the 15" is $220 and is dual 2 1000 watts RMS. if you put it in a ported box and tuned to the low 30s, you won't be disappointed. the fact that you are lookin at eD and have owned eD before, you may be more proned to like SQ, but still gets loud. In the end, its your call. building a box will make huge difference in the sound of your sub. ask around on the forum to find someone that lives near you to help you build a box. it'll def. be cheaper than what your getting charged on ebay.

It's both, but when ported, I hear it's a real low end monster.

I am still undecided as to which one of these I will purchase. Thats ok because I am not making this purchase until wednesday. Hopefully I will have decided by then.

T2 is a nice built sub, gets loud and low

BUT...

i had 4 of them, they need alot more than 1000rms to get full potential, its 4" coils

I am looking for something that will bump while still maintaining pretty good sound quality. The sub also can't require more power than I am currently using because I dont want to get a new amp and I anyways dont want to have to upgrade the electrical.

Well the decision got easier. To be honest I havent had the 11ov.2's for very long and today, the surround on the front of the speaker came loose or got unglued or something. I am not going to get the 13av.2

I need to order the sub tonight. Does anyone have any additional tips for me?
