Im going to start my box over christmas break now that I have all of my materials together. Im putting 2 12ks in my Explorer Sport with a PPI pcx-1500 running them.

Im still new to this but Ive been studying up on my car stereo and speaker design books ad I still cant decide what I should do. This is my first major box that I wanna do right so I wanna go all out. I listen to all types of music, I say my car is going to be SQ but I want to raise some hell when I need to. Has anyone put Ks in a ported or vented box? Hows SQ in a vent or port? Im totally bound up on this subject because I have no previous experience..Any help, ideas, or general info anyone can pass along would be great...Thanks in advance everyone! -Drew

Do 2 cubic feet per driver, and tune them to 30hz and enjoy. Dont forget to brace the box, id also use about 20sq inches of port area per driver. You could also use a common chamber box with a single port, there is no harm in that at all. The SQ of the ported K is very nice, it looses little if nothing in SQ, and gains alot of output ported.

ok, i know i've said this before, but this is my first box and i don't want to make it a shitty one. how big should i make the box, and to what frequency, should i make the box for all out spl for 2 15"?

I believe your question was already answered.

Actually the earlier response was to the man with the 12's so wanted an SQL setup. You wanna pound those 15's? Loyd has 3.5 (or was it 3.75?) cuft per 15, tuned to 36 hz. he says it isn't the ultimate SPL setup, but that the 15's sound really good at 36 hz. Perhaps you should try that . . .

How do you figure square inches of port area? Also, how much room needs to be infront of the port so it can move air? Im gonna have to figure out sumthin unique so i can keep the port out of sigh and still have my box fit my car and look as clean as possible. Can i do like one large vent and build it to that port area? whats the dif. between a port and a vent? Thanks!

ok i knew that but i didnt know if the diameter of the port matters? Do adjust the volume of the port by length and diameter proportionaly or does it matter? Does the sape of the port matter? I know its placement inside the box just has to be conisistent on both sides.
